December Vacation Help

Taking my mother with me to Disney to see all they do for Christmas. Planning on going Dec 2nd to the 9th, noticed this week is not in the free dining plan promotion, guess must be a busy week. I do have a couple questions though. First, when do they usually announce any special events for that week, say taping the Christmas Day parade or stuff like that. Also when do they usually announce the special guests for the candlelight processional. Already have the dining reservations booked and they went fast the day they became available lol , go figure. Cant wait to go, been there for Easter, Halloween, garden festival, star wars wknds, now gonna conquer Christmas time. Any help or suggestions on things to do etc would be appreciated.

It looks like the narrators during the time you're there will be Frank Langella (2-4) and Jodi Benson (7-9). The narrator for the 5th and 6th hasn't been announced yet, but should be soon! I'm taking my mom to the Christmas party this December! Maybe you could do that? Resort hopping is a lot of fun at Christmas too! Have fun!

Where have you seen even a partial list of celebrity speakers? We are going Christmas week and we are dying to know who will be there then.

We'll be there then too- it is one of our favorite weeks!! You can probably count on the Christmas Parade taping happening Friday-Saturday, possibly Thursday as well. I haven't noticed anything specific for this year yet.

I also haven't seen anything come out about this year's CP narrators either.

Don't forget about all there is to see for the holidays: Osborne Lights (they had been rumored not to happen this year- but I think they are after all), Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, and checking out the decorations at all of the resorts, especially the Deluxe resorts!

I found that the parade taping is happening on Sat., Dec 6. It is listed on a few of the crowd calendars... So search for WDW crowd calendar and you should see it. I've also heard that smaller show tapings could happen the Friday before, and the rain date is Dec 7. Not sure how official that is, but that's what I'm planning around.

This will be our first dec at WDW and traveling at about the same time as you. Looking forward to all of the decorations and Holidays around the world in Epcot. We opted not to do MVMCP - it is really expensive and we have APs. However, who knows what we'll think when we're down there!!

Have a great trip!!

Check out the lifesize gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian and the chocolate carousel at the Beach Club. And, of course, don't miss the Osborne Lights Spectacular!

Free dining is not offered that particular week because Pop Warner is going on at that time. We went the first week in Dec a couple of years ago and loved it! We liked the holiday story telling around the World Showcase. Norway was the best, with a funny gnome and great audience participation.

Have a great trip!

Awesome thanks for all the help so far. Does the gingerbread house at the Floridian really have a treat stand built into the side of it? That's what I heard I saw where Whooping Goldberg is gonna be at the Processional for the 5th and 6th of Dec when we go. I cannot wait to see her

Early December is typically a good time to go. With Thanksgiving being late this year, you might encounter some residual crowds your first few days, but overall it should be fine. I've been to Disney in December and as long as you avoid the days leading up to Christmas and through New Years, the crowds are manageable.

Whooping Goldberg

I know it's a typo, but thanks for the laugh. Anyway, does anyone know when the candlelight processional dinner packages will be available to book? I need it for December 30th, and Disney Dining has been frustratingly unhelpful in providing any details.

We've been around that time before. As a pp noted, those dates coincide with Pop Warner, but we didn't find it to be much of a bother. One of the pros of this time...once the parade is done taping...the MK tree will go up. So, you'll get to see all 4 park trees. The resort decorations are great as well. GF is my personal fave, but I'm also a big fan of the gingerbread carousel at BC + the trees at AKL and WL are nice. If you don't do MVMCP, you can still watch (and hear) Holiday Wishes from places like the deck at the Contemporary, the Poly beach and the GF dock. Do be mindful of the weather as it can be all over the place. We had days where it was very cold for FL (in the 20s) and days where it was nearly 80.
