December park hours

We're planning a trip to California the first week of December. Thinking about doing Disneyland and DCA the 2nd and 3rd. Looks like Disneyland is closing at midnight most nights that month. But on Thursday the 2nd it's closing at 10pm instead. Any locals have insight for the earlier closing that day? Could we expect lower crowds that day as a result? Thanks

It's a slower week, historically. And a wise one to visit Disneyland on, so congratulations.

The weekend of December 4th and 5th is Disneyland's Candlelight Processional. You'll see the Candlelight infrastructure being built in the Town Square by Thursday the 2nd. Other than that, it's probably just a slower weekday after the Thanksgiving rush.

I wouldn't assume it'll be less crowded. Thursday is open to a lot of passholders.

I think it'll be less crowded during the day but pick up quite a bit after work due to the aforementioned passholders. At the very least, school districts are still in during this time so that'll lighten the crowds a bit.

So far, even with the reservation snafus for the Magic Keys, weekdays with passholders are light-ish, with the crowds coming in during the evening.
