Christmas week to New Year is very busy - New Years Eve is chaotic

I hear the week before Christmas is pretty quiet. I was there 12/26-1/4 and it was a madhouse. It started to empty a little bit by like 1/2 or so but was still crowded. If you plan on going Christmas-New Year's I'd suggest staying an extra day or 2 just to get through everything because the lines are pretty long.
