DCL Fireworks

Hey everyone! I have always been curious how the fireworks work on DCL??

Where do they launch them from? When do they setup, and how?? Do all the ships do this??

Additionally, they usually launch to the starboard side. I don't know exactly when they start the set-up, but I think they usually start in the late afternoon. And they do block off part of the deck during set-up.

All the ships have the capability to launch the fireworks, but the Wonder is not allowed to have fireworks during its Alaska itineraries.

True, and they're made from biodegradable material, so that they actually become fish food when they hit the water.

Oh interesting! Is that why they seem a tad lackluster compared to in park fireworks? The different materials used to make it economical with the ocean?

I love that they do fireworks on the ships, and never seen anything about how it works. I always assumed the had some sort of barge they floated out off the ship and then brought back on the ship or something. Shooting it off the ship makes more sense.

from what I could see on the dream, fireworks were shot off from aft and the forward funnel (or behind it on bow;appeared top of forward funnel). Once we left CC, we pulled away from land slowly, rotated in space and "parked" for fireworks. The aft end of the deck was blocked off and guarded. Fireworks fired over the starboard side of the boat. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. They weren't well timed with the music like they are at the park and was short by comparison. Wasn't WOW

Yes it doesn't compare in scale or show compared to the theme parks.. but few do :) It's kind of a novelty and icing.. not so much a 'must see' in itself.

So the question becomes.. could they ever create a slightly larger, better choreographed show for the cruise ships?? Or is the technology just not similar enough to get the effect of the parks shows?

Can anyone confirm launching from the forward stack? Every time I've seen the fireworks, they've been launched strictly from the aft. I was just on the Fantasy in January, and we saw the fireworks, and I'm pretty sure they were from the aft only. (Although I was sick as a dog, so I might've missed something). If the Dream is launching from two locations, that would be really interesting, for several different reasons.

I just got off the Fantasy and while most of the shells do launch from the aft of the ship, there are some that launch from the top of the forward funnel.

Wow, cool to know!! Thanks. I wonder if they have to close any public space to do that. I wonder if the classic ships will also start launching from the front stack. . .
