When I went to DL, I really didn't want to spend a lot of time at DCA. But, when I got there, I saw the park had a lot to offer: ToT, GRR, Soarin', Aladin, Animation Studios, Who wants to be a millionare (soon to be), california screamin and muppets.

But that park needs a lot of work!! I wasn't happy with Paradise Pier, it was too, how do I put it...like six flags!!! :hurl:

Golden State park, was how do I say it?? LAME. Those tours were terrible, we need an attraction over there, it just too boring, As for the Hollywood backlot, that was fun.

I also didn't like the park's center piece, it just wasnt Disney.

Would anyone else like to comment on this?

But you forgot to mention the best thing at DCA. A tortilla making attraction. :hammer:
Part of me really hopes that Al Lutz's far out rumour is true and they are going to retheme this park. Perhaps into the old Disney's America theme.

Whoa. Re-theming the park??

Wouldn't that cost an ubeleivable amount of money??

I like some elements of the park, but some just need help. I noticed it had a little bit of MGM, a little bit of Animal Kingdom, and a little bit of it's own flare (Paradise Pier) which needs help and a lot of it.

Ya, that's why I called it "a far out rumour", don't believe it myself. :D
The park is not doing well, but to completely retheme it is a little extreme.
Turning it into Disney's America makes sense. Alot of the rides designed for that park (including Paradise Pier) made it to DCA.
All they would have to do is some rethemeing and add a Colonial Village to the enterance.
I'll try to dig up an old article for you about this.

I agree with your second point. I've said before DCA is like a mini WDW.

Thanks, I am very intrested in what it has to say.

I am not too thrilled with Disney's America either, it seems like a roller coaster wouldn't fit well into a park like that.

It seems to be we have a very large problem on our hands.

Here Al's latest DCA rant:

"Do they keep adding D and E Tickets to DCA for the next ten years, hoping that eventually the Park will be able to stand on its own without having to resort to discounts and marketing gimmicks? Or do they step back, force the few Burbank and Glendale executives that helped create DCA and that are still on the Disney payroll to swallow their pride, and remake it into something completely different. A different name, a different design direction, a different strategy entirely are what some WDI power players would like to see happen. Or TDA could just keep adding Pixar themed rides that have really nothing to do with California and try to wean themselves off of discounts and 2Fer tickets by early in the next decade.

The rumors out of Glendale and TDA are now that DCA is nearing a crossroads and that several big executives are going to need to make a decision on the fate of the troubled theme park in the next twelve months. But that's the long term stuff that could change direction more than a few dozen times before things finally get decided."

I don't know if Disney's America would work either.
From what I've seen on the net, it might be a little too educational. If you know what I mean.

If they ever revamp DCA. I want it to be different than anything they have at any other Disney park, to draw people from all over the country to see, so that means not a lot of clones!!!

I am really concerned about DCA. It was a mistake, I really want to make a difference in helping it.

Well don't lose any sleep over it.
But they seem to have a good man in charge over there. I'm sure things will pick up eventually.
If you want more gossip on DCA and the DLR. Check out The Mouse Info Boards.
They are not quite as welcoming as we are over here at WDWMagic, it takes some time.
But the WebMaster Michael is very nice and he does get some great info.
Not that I want to steer you away from WDWMagic. My home away from home.

By the way, Who Wants to be a Millionaire isn't "soon to be". It's extinct. It opened several years ago (late 2001, I think) and closed a year ago permanently.

It was never as popular on the West Coast as it was in Florida (the game show or the attraction) and was struggling to fill seats--even so, those who went were largely APs, so it had little value to guests. I don't particularly miss it, I just wish they would replace it with something. It's prime real estate!
