Try going to thier homepage and see if they have an upgrade available.
Plus if you're worried about loosing your files, just dig em up on your PC.
Try something like this path... c:/programfiles/VideoWave/MyVideo or My Docs/MyVideo. Make a backup of them and then you should be safe.

Do *not* update to VideoWave 5. I made the mistake and was asking for a refund within days. It is very crash prone, slower than v4 and adds nothing at all useful to the capabilities of the program, imho.
If you are looking for a better video editing program (and most of them are) I would strongly recommend VideoFactory by Sonic Foundry. It is a (slightly) scaled down version of Vegas Video, which I think is the best desktop video program out there for the PC. Best of all, the download version is only $70, which is $20 more than what I paid for the utterly useless VideoWave upgrade.
The good news is that they did refund my money.
