:sohappy: My 14 year old daughter has already told me and her mother that she wants to work for Disney, and not serving food either. (Not that it's a bad thing.)

Is there anyone who has, is, or is planning to work for Disney that can give her/us some advice on things to do. I have told that it would be a good idea if she was in drama, choir and learned a second language. So far she is in drama and taking spanish. Where can we get advice or official information? Any help would be wonderful. Thanks in advance, The Shaw Family.

Join the club  . I'm a 14 year old guy and I would do anything to work at Disney, well a good paying job. However I don't know how many of those type of jobs are reachable since I won't work myself up the ladder because I live in New York.

We live in Texas and she is going to go to college in Florida, so anything is possible, just have to do it!

She can start sooner than you think! She can join the College Program!
Check here: www.wdwcollegeprogram.com

There are also some representatives of this program in these forums, so I´m sure one of them will post in here soon! I remember Brent (turkey leg boy) is one of them if I´m correct, and even has a website with info about it.

Good luck! :animwink:

If you want to move to Florida, she can start working at 16 in limited roles.

As far as the college program goes, she will have to be enrolled in college AND be 18 by the team she would arrive at WDW for the CP.

The 2nd language (mainly Spanish) is a good idea and I would recommend it for living in Florida and Texas. Drama and choir won't be that big of deal unless she wants to get into entertainment. Most other roles attractions/food and beverage/merchandise, etc don't really demand drama or choir.

Overall, I would still say that 14 is a little to young to start planning your life around something. Several hopes/dreams will be changing and her desires to work at WDW may change.

Fourteen is totally not to young. I told my mom when I was 8 that I was going to go down on the college program, and work the Jungle Cruise or Haunted Mansion....
We have it on tape.

10 years later I ended my job as a Butler at the Haunted Mansion, came home, and told my mom I was going back as Entertainment and I was going to be in my favirote show, Fantasmic, just got back from 8 months as an entertainer and Fantasmic performer.

Dreams are never to early to make...

Tell her to DO THE COLLEGE PROGRAM!!!!!!! From one Texan to another!

At 14, I would guess she is going to change her mind about what she wants to do on a weekly basis. However, growing up near Disneyland I knew I always wanted to work there. Of course, we moved to Ohio and I didn't think it would happen.

One day at college I saw a flyer that said, "Guess Who's Coming to Campus?" with a picture of Mickey Mouse. It was an advertisement for the WDW College Program. I interviewed, got accepted and went down to Florida in the Fall of 1992.

I worked for Disney, just on a different coast than I figured I would have.

Agreed that 14 might be a little young to start planing your "life" around WDW, but she has expressed alot of intrest. Not to mention my 10 year old boy who wants to be a chef. He plans on working at WDW as well. Now for my 6 year old, we already call her Princess Arri, so guess she'll want to be a princess at WDW!

As far as moving down there, looked at it and even went through the hiring process. Could of had a job driving the monorails. Just didn't pay enough. I really wanted to be a security officer at WDW. I am a police officer now, but they told me, back in 97, that security is only part time to start off.:(

So I'll just retire in 20 years and move down and work for the Reedy Creek Fire Department. I'm a volunteer fireman already!

Can you guess where my kids get there ambitions?

I will see you there cb. I am going to retire in 20 years or so and move up to Orlando to drive a bus at WDW. Nice way to retire and good benefits for family.
