Date Based Ticket Question

What happens if you buy a date-based ticket (military salute) and don't go on that exact date, but head to the park one day later? Can you do that? I'm trying to give us 1 day of flexibility if our travel day gets too crazy.

They are no longer "military salute" tickets, now "Military Promotional Tickets" Until you pass the tapstyles, you dont consume a day's entitlement, but you do need to have a valid park reservation. I see things that might indicate that you have conflated several different ticket types information into what's valid for a single one. For Military discounts there are three available: Military promotional (4,5 or 6 days iterations where you can also add on hopping for an additional charge); Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket which has a lot of days of admission (not quite an AP, but it has blackout dates and no other benefits.) and length of stay if you're staying at SoG which is only about a 10% discount and no add on sales tax.

Park Reservations Required
To enter a theme park, both a valid ticket and a park reservation for that park are required. Before purchasing this ticket, check that reservations are available for this ticket for the date(s) and park(s) you would like to visit. Make your reservations immediately after purchasing your ticket because reservations are limited, and you may not be able to get a reservation for your desired date or park.

So...this (above) isn't an actual ticket option. What ticket do you have or are you considering purchasing?

What used to be the Salute ticket is now called the "Military Promotional" ticket. It is available at 4-day, 5-day or 6-day PH which are valid until 12/18/2026. There is also a new Disney Celebrates America ticket which is sort of a quasi-AP with unlimited entries but subject to block-out dates; this is also valid until 12/18/2026. You will need a theme park reservation because these are not date-based.

There are also date-based Theme Park Tickets that are less discounted than the Military Promotional ticket, roughly 10% off WDW online prices for 1-day or 2-day tickets, or 20% off for longer (up to 10-day). These are date-based tickets and will expire X-days from the designated start date depending on length of ticket (roughly 2-4 days longer than the ticket length to allow for flexibility). These tickets do not require a theme park reservation.

don't go on that exact date, but head to the park one day later? Can you do that?
Yes. If you have the date-based Theme Park Tickets, you can have it start on Sunday but not go to a park until Monday. Since the tickets have a longer use-window than the number of entry days, there is flexibility to do just as you suggest and/or have non-park days during your visit.

If you have the Military Promotional ticket (formerly Salute) it does not matter what day you first go to a park but remember that you will need a theme park reservation for each day you plan to enter a park.
