DAS Card Question

Hi all,

Long time lurker and occasional comment leaver. I have a question. I recently injured my knee and calf at work, and its made walking around the parks or where ever I am difficult for me if its for prolonged periods. I recently purchased a mobility scooter as well.

My question is about the DAS card I've been reading about. Is there any possible chance GR could issue me one? I'm a local AP and still trying to understand how this all works and if they can assist me with this. I know at MK I can take my scooter through most of the lines with the exception of Space and 7DMT, but other parks it is hard if I have to wait in a line for a long time without the scooter nearby.

Thanks!

I don't believe you will be able to, but you can ask.

All the lines are scooter or wheelchair transfer accessible now at WDW. So, the need for "alternate entrance" has been removed.

i used a scooter last time I was there as i had a destroyed knee. I cannot think of a single ride where i had to leave it far back. I did indeed leave it in the stroller area the majority of the time, as I could walk some distances, only took it on rides I knew had a really LLOONNGG queue- like the Safari- but I don't remember ever having to leave it until close to the actual ride entrance. I would think you would do OK without DAS. If however, you want it, you could probably get it. just go to Customer Relations in the park and ask- they are not allowed to ask you why (thanks HIPPA), but you don't get to the front of the line anymore, you get a time to come back (same as standby would be) programmed into your Magic Band and then go in the FP+ line most places

HIPPA has nothing to do with why they can't ask.

ADA has to do with why they can't ask.

HIPPA only impacts healthcare providers, which Disney is not one.

OK, so pretty much I'm OK without it? Do rides like Space and Mine Train provide wait time cards or something so I wouldn't have to wait in the long queue?

You can ask, but be more prepared to discuss your needs versus requesting DAS thinking you need it. They will then evaluate from there.

I dont think you will get one. Many attractions can accomodate ECVs or have you transfer to a wheelchair and go in just fine like everyone else. For long waits, it sounds like you just cant stand in lines, but you can sit in a wheelchair in line just fine. Not all attractions will give out return cards even without DAS.
