For those who don't know, I'm from the St. Louis area. In this part of the country we take baseball very seriously, and those players, announcers and everyone involved with our baseball experience are held very close to our hearts.

In this past week, the people of St. Louis and all fans, players, employees, and owners of Major League Baseball have lost two very important people.

This past Tuesday night, legendary broadcaster Jack Buck passed away from contiued complications brought on by Parkinson's disease, a cancerous spot on his lung, an intestinal blockage, and kidney failure. He was 77.

Later that same week, early Saturday morning, 33 year-old Cardinals pitcher Darryl Kile died in his sleep from heart failure. This was found to be caused by a 80 - 90% blockage in his coronary artery. Kile and the Cardinals were in the middle of their 3 game roadtrip in Chicago, Illinois when Kile didn't show up for the afternoon game on Saturday morning. Cardinals officials then began calling his hotel room, hoping he had overslept, but got no answer. They then went back to the hotel, where he was found in his bed, having passed away hours before. Kile left behind his 3 children, all under 5 years of age, and his wife.

Both of these men will be missed dearly by all.

God speed, Darryl and Jack.

MSU,

I also take my Baseball very seriously........

When I heard the news, I was absolutley shocked, I've never experienced any Major Leaguer pass during a Season.......it still doesn't click in my mind, I keep thinking I'll see Daryle on the mound in the coming days.

It's a tragedy, 33, a wife, 5 year old twins and a 9 month old...........

I grew up with the Houston Astros & they were "my team" until '94. Even after that, I kept collecting on my 2 favorite players...Craig Biggio & Darryl Kile. I heard about this during the Braves game Saturday night & I didn't take it well at all. My heart goes out to his friends & teammates, past & present, his family & all of his fans. What a horrible, tragic loss. :(

How freaking tough can that be on Joe Buck?

Joe is the son of Jack Buck and an excellent broadcaster. He was in Chicago to call the game on Saturday.

I was crying like crazy Wednesday when they did the short memorial for Jack. I grew up listening to him every night.

It's easier to take his death than Kile's. I had doubts that Jack would ever make it back into the booth, but DK was out of nowhere. I had the opportunity to meet DK last year when the Cards were playing the Braves at WWS. He was a great guy. I'm going to miss that hook of his.

Hopefully, the rest of the season will be worth it when the Cards win the World Series.

That's really sad, I feel very bad for the Buck and Kile families.
Sorry to get off the subject, but I have a question for MSU.
Are you a fan of the Cardinals' pitcher Matt Morris? I met him because my dad is good friends with Matt Morris' girlfriend and Matt comes to my town sometimes. He's really a nice guy.

~My thoughts go out to the families of Jack Buck and Darryl Kile~

I actually met Matt Morris when I was still in college a couple of years ago. He was not playing at the time, because of rehab. I asked him what he was doing with all of that damn money. He said its just sitting in the bank becuase he doesn't know what to do with all of it! I was like  , geez, I'll help ya!

Also, I hadn't ever spoken to Kile, but I had met Jack Buck. Saw him in a hospital parking lot, and he went out of his way to come say hi to me. What a guy. Kile's death is a little more difficult, though. So unexpected.
