Dapper Day

In my morning reading, I came across two separate articles about Dapper Day. I had never heard of this before. Apparently, it's a day when people come to the US WDW parks dressed in their favourite dapper attire. The following article says that it's a long-standing tradition.

Does anyone know the history? Has anyone ever participated? I think it sounds really cool and the pics in the above article are gorgeous.

It started in Disney land officially a few years ago. People did it here a few years later. I don't think it was anything official at first but now it's a "thing"

Mostly hipsters. After they go home they blog about GMO foods and organic mustache wax.

I don't consider myself a hipster by any means. But I am fascinated with the earliest part of the last century and would love to dress up as a flapper. DHS really does lend itself as a great backdrop.

It just seems so random. Does anyone know who organized it or how it got started or why?

It's the cutest thing! I saw several people dressed up when I went in Magic Kingdom for a few minutes on our departure day. I loved looking through some of the Dapper Day photos on instagram. There were a couple of hashtags you could use, so I looked through those while I was bored in the car ha.

Looks like it's a whole convention thing. And you can get in on the action again on April 16.

Started in February 2011, DAPPER DAY® Events organizes fashionable outings to Disney Parks twice a year (spring and fall) in LA, Orlando, and Paris. These events include a "DAPPER DAY at the Parks" with informal in-park meetups, plus other happenings outside the parks such as our DAPPER DAY Expo (in the Disneyland Hotel® Exhibit Hall), DAPPER DAY Car Show, and our official after party FOLLY in Downtown Disney Anaheim. We sometimes organize other events at non-Disney locations throughout the year.

Um, no. I am not a hipster and do not have a blog. The majority of people I met were not hipsters.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself and had a great time. It was a fun group of people on a light crowd day at Hollywood studios. Afterward we went to Magic Kingdom and saw a few other Dappers there. The CMs loved it (and many participated)!

It was my first Dapper Day this past year, and everyone was very welcoming! Even the CMs were in on it (at the parking gate, the CM told us to "have a happy dapper day!") We went to Epcot for lunch, and lots of people gave us compliments, some were very confused too I would encourage you to go as it was a lot of fun!
