I just returned from my second day in Cars Land and the New DCA. Phew!
One of the new things they've got going on in the afternoon is something called Dancin' With Disney. It's in the old Millionaire building that is generally just used for conventions or cheerleading competitions or some such trivial offering. But this summer they've turned it into "Dancin' With Disney", which is sort of a weird but fun afternoon dance party. You just wander in at random, there's a DJ up on a little stage playing pop music continuously, and there's a dozen or so Disney Characters dancing around with some human hosts/hostesses out on the dancefloor.
It's quirky and weird but oddly fun to watch. And the little kids and their parents seem to get a huge kick out of it. It's so simple, but works so well.
As a bonus, they've got some TRULY RANDOM Disney Characters in there. You won't find the big names like Mickey and Minnie, but instead you'll find the Ugly Stepsisters, Clara Cluck, Marie (from The Aristocats), Clarabelle Cow, Big Bad Wolf, and so on. Truly hilarious to see the Stepsisters and Marie and Daisy Duck and Clarabelle and Clara Cluck doing a ladies only dance to Girls Just Want To Have Fun!
The CM said it runs daily this summer from Noon to 5PM, specifically meant for the heat of the afternoon to let folks come into the air conditioning and cool off, but then heat up the dance floor with Clara Cluck or the Stepsisters.
