CS and Being Accepted.

Into the program, that is.

I'm finally a HS senior, graduating early (I'm SO glad I didn't skip any classes my high school career. If you are reading this and in high school, don't skip. You'll get to Disney faster :p ), passing all of my classes, I've taken advanced level classes, and I'm heavily involved in my school's leadership program. I have even held down a job for a year and a half at the local laser tag place as a supervisor. Sounds pretty perfect, right?

But I'm somewhat nervous about being accepted into the program. I mean, I'm a Disney maniac () like a few others here, and I have read every page inside and out and spoken with countless CPs and CS kids while on vacation, but I forgot to ask the most simple question:

What are the chances I'll get in? Are they really that picky? I recall hearing something about requirements being: 1) Pass high school and 2) Don't be a mass murderer.

It's pretty safe to say that I'll die (or freak out) if I don't make it.

Thanks for the responses, and please, speak candidly.

yup, those are pretty much the only requirements!!! If you can prove you're a hard worker, and you know how to be responsible and organized, then you'll be fine. I think you can prove that with your academic acheivements and work experience... when you interview be confident and show that you really want to do this, and you'll be absolutely fine!

You just made my day. I was hoping that a 1 1/2 years of occasional pain and anguish as a family entertainment center supervisor would count for something. Not to mention those IB classes that pretty much made me bleed out the ears.

Now I'm just waiting for them to post the start dates and application stuff. They were supposed to do that the first week of Sept. :(

Also, anyone know if Transportation is staying as a role in CS? I e-mailed my recruiter to ask, but not entirely sure if I'm going to get a response any time soon seeing as she handles 30 out of 50 states! Poor woman!

Thanks again KC!

EDIT: Also, do they have multiple programs during the year? I'm graduating in Winter trimester, and I really want it to work out so there is as little downtime as possible between graduation and program start, but circumstances in my life right now may not allow me to jump on board CS as soon as I would like. Is there a summer/fall program or just spring as I've seen advertised?

Ouch, crushing blow just delivered.

The CS recruiter I e-mailed just messaged me back and said that Transportation isn't an option for CS kids. The fact that Transportation was mentioned as a role on the CS website "was an error" and "has been forwarded to the IT department."

Ugh, I definitely got my hopes up really high for that.
