Crystal Palace Rehab.

Starting in Aug. the Crystal Palace located off Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom will be under renovations for 5 months.The Palace will recieve a new paint job,the domes will be removed for palm trees to be planted.You will also find New bathrooms that reflect the Palaces theme,Both dining rooms will match furniture and carpeting.Finally , computers will be added for cast members and guest conviences.

Cast Members at the Crystal Palace seemed a little excited about the renovations,but no word if it would be turned into an AP lounge like Disneylands Plaza Gardens.

Sounds like they're going to do a really good job on it. The CP is my favourite venue for character meals and we will be dining there on our next visit in April '03

Anyone remember when they had live birds flying around in there? It was in the early-mid 80's. A couple dozen birds flying around over your head while you ate. A bit disconcerting to say the least. I haven't been in there in years, maybe they are still there.

Theres no birds , but winnie -the -pooh and tigger too.We dined with them sunday july 7th.Thats how i found out about the renovation, I complained about the bathroombeing filthy.The dry flower arrangements where in need of repair as well at CP lobby.

It's going to be closed, and character breakfasts with Pooh and the gang will be taken at Tony's Town Square instead.

Oh my gosh!!!!!!!! I thought I was the only one who cared about that! Me and my family LOVED the pink (and sometimes blue) powdered soap you could find at MK and Epcot! I hate that it's gone! I once wanted to sneak a ziploc bag into the park and fill it up with the soap, but ended up not doing it. When I went back, and it was gone, boy did I feel sorry I didn't do it! When did they take it away?? Why did they do it?? I'm guessing money, but it sucks

They took it away believing that some people might be under the impression that WDW was placing titanic quantities of pink anthrax (that just so happens to smell like soap as well as kill germs and clean hands) in the restrooms ...or something like that. Sound rediculous? You tell me.

Now that the whole scare is pretty much over with - and consumers are back to buying buckets of Oxy-Clean - I say they bring back the powder soap.

haha! i loved the powder soap too!! i love CP too! i think my boyfriend & i are going to go there as soon as we get to wdw! before they close it! then prolly again next summer to see how much it's changed! i can't wait!

Am I the only one that thinks Tony's isn't too bad a location? I mean, it's smaller, so it'll be less busy, and it's a full service restaurant, rather than a buffet, so you don't have to continuously get up.

I think it's going to be a nice temporary change

The stuff is called "Luron", made by the folks who once advertised "20-mule team Borax" on Death Valley Days. That was on TV just a few years ago. Hosted by a former movie actor (and soon-to-be Governor) named Ronald Reagan.

DW and I always do breakfast at the CP the first morning we're at WDW. We're hoping to be at WDW in Jan of '03 (assuming that the dr says that our then-2-month-old daughter is okay to travel and DW feels up to it) and now I don't know what we're going to do our first morning there.... Maybe we'll go to Tony's, but we're not big Tony's fans....Maybe we'll just do breakfast in our room (2-BR villa at BW).
