Anyone have any good recent (after Dec 18 '04) pics or news or rumors about Crush 'n' Gusher since the last post about it was (way back ha!) on Dec. 18th.

I did a search and there wasn't much since then as far as new info, so if you have anything... please please please, let us know.

Thanks

I would think that it would be hard to get pics of the slide because of the rehab that it is having. The park is closed to the public now and it would be tough for anyone to get pics of anything there now.

good point...

Occasionally some people from "inside" get extra information and leak it out. There was new info on here (WDWmagic homepage) that the area where the attraction is going is now Hideaway Bay (I believe). Maybe that means new eating places / shops / etc. to go along with everything...

It would be nice to get one more quick service eatery there. Having just one place is a little annoying on a hot summer day.

Crush N' Gusher is actually visible from the road. You can see it through the trees to the right of the Typhoon Lagoon entrance. I saw it when I went there for New Years.

From the last pictures I saw, it is hard to believe that it will be complete this spring. A lot of theming and construction needs to be done according to the concept art.

looks fantastic, can't wait to ride it. I love any type of water park ride and I have been waiting for a water coaster to try for a long time.

Yeah, like jmax said, it really is amazing how far it's come since the last picture. I guess thats "Disney Magic" in action.

How long has Typhoon Lagoon been closed for rehab? I was down there this past June, and it was closed. :veryconfu

It looks huge! WOW! Can't wait to ride it!
But, I assume its gonna be like all other master blasters and have an extremely slow throughput?

Looks good though! :)
Slow throughput, but that is why they are building three slides. I like how they themed the slides to look old and rusty--that extra Disney touch :)

Anyone know if the slide will be camouflaged or is it going to be exposed mostly like it is now?
I for one certainly hope they put some rockwork type of stuff up around it. Yes, the slide will be cool, and yes, waterparks aren't necesarily known for the outstanding theming, but Disney has set a precedent with BB and TL and slides in those two parks are not only themed at the top of the ride, but the actual slide is well-themed too.

I just don't want to see waterslide-blue colored pipes running around the beautiful Typhoon Lagoon landscape. At least attraction like the Family Raft ride @ BB and others have some kinda of theming on them ... sort of...

from the looks of the concept art it looks like they'll be pretty exposed though... just covered in some netting :brick:

No need to worry, they will be probobly be engulfed by trees, and if you look closely, you can see the rusted over look they have to them. The slides will be visible, but they should be themed with the rest of the park. At least that's the way I've understood it. Remember, they still have about a month and a half until it's open, and with the progress done over the past few weeks, we could see a lot more progress.

The one thing I hope is that you won't have to carry your raft up the stairs like on all the others. I'm sure there will be a lift in place simialar to Teamboat Springs at BB, but I just can't see one in the picture so im kinda curious.

You have to understand that with certain things, themeing can only be done to a certain extent. Add to this the fact that a lot of the slide is in the air,etc... what can you really do? It's suposed to be in a factory of sorts, so the rust and grey'ish color of the slides will be great. Add to this the awesome structure that you begin the slide on, this ride will be great.

If you compare this slide to say the original slides of the park, you have to take into consideration that they are built into the "mountain", whereas this is like a roller coaster slide that goes in the air.

In the end, that picture is amazing and I can't wait to ride!

^^I would expect most of the slide parts will be surrounded by think foilage that has yet to be planted. You can see some stuff has been planted already in the bottom left-hand side of the pic. The slides themselves are themed to chutes used to transport fruit around an old "fruit washing facility". That is partly why they aren't disguised in rocks, etc. Obviously, the slides themselves have been themed to an extent in that they appear rusty/dirty as compared to what they looked when first installed. Something that other water parks don't do it all.

The press releases also mention that guests will be weaving in and out of "wreckage" from the factory, so there is probably still some work to be done.

Either way, its looking pretty good.
