Pre-Trip Cruisin' into a New Adventure!

Hi everyone!!!

As the title states, we are going on a new adventure! I had every intention on going back to WDW next spring, but my husband has finally talked me into a Disney Cruise instead and now we are officially booked. What better way to get excited about all the planning than to start a pre-trip report? Not to mention, since this is my first Disney Cruise, I'd love to have some feedback from my fellow WDWMagic Disney cruisers throughout the planning process.

Details:

When:
May 2nd - May 9th

What: 7 night Eastern Caribbean Cruise from Port Canaveral on the Disney Fantasy (Tortula, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay)

Talks of going on a Disney Cruise began after this trip. I wanted to book another WDW trip immediately, but my husband wasn't going to give up. The thing is, I had never been on a cruise before and was afraid of being seasick. Lets be honest, the DCL is not cheap and I didn't want to spend that much $$$ and be sick the entire time. So this past April, we decided to go on a cruise out of New Orleans (our home port and on a much cheaper cruise line) as a way to celebrate our anniversary and see if I liked cruising. Turns out, we had a great time and I did not get sick at all. I thought, wow, I had such a great time that I can't imagine how much fun I'd have with Disney. Although, I know once I go Disney, I'm not going back. :hilarious:

I'm excited! Even though it's so far out, there's something to say about having something reserved and the whole planning process! I look forward to sharing more as time goes by! Feel free to share any tips that you may have!

I'll leave you with an updated pic of my little dude. This will be his very first cruise! He loved the boats on the lake, so I imagine he will love the cruise ship. We plan to tell him about the cruise on Christmas, so right now it's a secret.

It's always so cool to have something to look forward to! The planning part really is so much fun. I am excited to hear your thoughts on DCL vs the others :)

Yes that will be interesting to compare. One thing that HAS to be better is the boarding process. The boarding process in New Orleans was downright terrible. It was a very stressful start to a vacation. Port Canaveral has got to be better, I imagine!

Hi everyone!

177 days out from our first cruise! The planning process is certainly more laid back from what I'm used to, but I'm not complaining!
We sold our house and have been moving and getting ready to build a new home, so life has been super busy. This means we will for sure be ready for some rest and relaxation.

Newest updates...

Flights are booked. We are flying into Orlando on a red eye, Thursday, April 30th. I may regret this later with the little one, but we will be on vacation, so maybe it won't be as bad. He will have school that day, so we may be lugging a 48 pound, sleeping 6 year old around the airport. 🤪

We originally planned on staying off site, but I received a pin code and was able to score All Star Movies for a steal. We will check in here and the plan is the sleep in on Friday and enjoy a relaxing morning. We will likely make our way to Disney Springs and/or enjoy the pool at the resort.

Saturday morning, I have booked a Chef Mickey breakfast reservation to kick off the day!! Then we will be heading to Port!

I'm getting really excited and I know it will be here before I know it. Cam still does not know, but I'm planning to put together a surprise box for Christmas morning. I'll share what I end up putting together for that.

And then we can choose excursions etc. starting on February 17th.
