Cruise for Couples??

I was wondering how many of the users have been on a Disney cruise without children? (Since we don't have any yet  ) And how about if you were pregnant? (With hopes that we will be partents soon? :animwink: )

My husband and I are planning our 10th anniversary for next June and *I* want to take a Disney cruise (he will take anything that is reasonable).

For those who went without children - is there enough to be done that you won't feel out of place not having children there? (Other than the casino [if there is one]).

For those who were pregnant - is there anything that pregnant women can do besides swimming?

We have *never* been on a cruise before and don't know anyone our age who has. (Mid 30's)

Thnx for any input.

I have not been on a Disney cruise yet (my first one this Sept) but from all of my research I've found that there are lots of people who do not bring children. I have some friends who go on cruises all the time, leaving their children at home. Their favorite cruise? Disney of course, and they are not even big Disney fans ;)

My girlfriend and I went in October of 2001. Rest assurd, there is plenty to do for adults. There is an assortment of on-board and off-boat activities, for example: The on-board spa is to die for, the massages are fantastic, there are drawing classes, bingo, dueling piano lounge, the broadway style shows are fantastic. Off-boat: Castaway Cay (lay in a hammock all day), swim with the dolphins, tour Atlantis Resort, tour the local sites, shopping everywhere!

Dinner alone is an entertaining experience, especially Palo (which is adult only and is a must do!!) and Animators Palate (a do not miss!!).

Everyday there is an itinerary that gets slipped under your door that lists the daily on-board activities. The off-boat activities are usually listed in a brochure when you first get on the ship. We had a hard time picking and choosing what to do, there is only so much time and usually not enough when on vacation.

Thanks for the info. How long was the trip you took?

I contacted Kingdom Konsultant for some info also. I just hope my husband does not feel too overwhelmed if there is that much to do. :brick: I like to do a little of everything, so it sounds like I should be able to do that. Drawing classes sound great. My husband is currently painting a picture with his 96 y.o. gramma of the colorado rockies from a ski trip a couple years ago. Maybe he could learn some other techniques for using pastels and chalk. :D

More Info

I was much like your husband once upon a time! I couldn’t imagine being on a boat in the middle of an ocean and not going out of my mind. Disney World was the place for me. However, when my wife and I were married at Disney World in February, 2001 we had three weeks to visit. We decided to give a Disney cruise a try booking the 3 day cruse due to my apprehension. Well let me just say, as soon as you enter the cruise terminal you know you're still with Disney! And then when you get to your state room and have a look at the ‘Navigator’ (newsletter) you quickly understand that there is no way you’ll have a chance to experience everything planned on the cruise. By the end of the cruise we vowed to take another Disney cruise but this time a 7 day cruise, which we did April last year. We’re actually starting to get the itch to do the 7 day western cruise now! Say, what we did last year was we flew down to Orlando on the Friday and stayed in WDW. The cruise (7 day) takes place Saturday to Saturday, and then we returned to WDW and flew home on the Monday. So in this case we got 7 days on the ship, 2 full days in WDW and 2 partial days at WDW. In any case, go on the cruise the two of you won’t be disappointed. Oh and enjoy the fireworks tonight!

Here is a link to my cruise trip report from last April (2003). http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=23272

Thanks

Thanks for the link to the Trip Report. I printed it out and will read it tonight when I have a little more time. It looks very thorough though. I am starting to look for prices and maybe can get my hubby to read the report over soon so we can start making plans.

Missing the fireworks tonight - at least the 'in person' show. Hubby's parents taking us to dinner for our anniversary. They feel as though they have been neglecting us.

From what I glanced of the report it looks as though we won't be bored or unoccupied. Do you have any of the 'Navagator' reports you could copy and mail to me? (PM me to let me know and I will send you my address if you like)
