So, there's gonna be a movie about Cruella de Vil...

Anyone else willing to bet that it'll be like Maleficent, where they try to make the bad guy look good by making the good guys look bad?

I hope the movie doesn't give an excuse for why Cruella de Vil wants to kidnap the puppies. Here's my thoughts if Cruella get's the Maleficent treatment. They are going to show Cruella living with a poor mother and father then goes through a trauma which explains her wanting to turn Dalmatians into fur coats.

While the rest of the movie pretty much stunk, Glenn Close's performance in the 1996 live action 101 Dalmations is, and forever will be the ideal interpretation of Cruella. She was brilliant bringing the character's story to life. Nobody can top her performance, and yes, I know that's a bold statement to make blindly before seeing this upcoming movie. But I just find it highly improbable they can create a better Cruella than Ms. Close did. If they want to cast her again as Cruella, then I'll give it a chance.

And for crying out loud, quit trying to make all the villains have a "misunderstood" background. Sometimes there are just bad people out there. That's a lesson kids need to learn. Not every story needs to be altered or sugarcoated with the whole "misunderstood; poor me" concept. Granted, there are a few characters in the Disney villain library who could *possibly* be rekindled as misunderstood without butchering how they were originally developed (Ratcliffe, Lady Tremaine, Shere Khan...), but not Maleficent, the self-proclaimed mistress of all evil. That was blasphemy to the character & the classic animated film. The same with Cruella. She's cruel. She's a devil. It's in her name. So don't sugarcoat & ruin another villain's backstory who's meant to be just that, a villain.

End rant.

See, Maleficent (in the original Sleeping Beauty film) was cool and elegant. A force to be reckoned with. A worthy villain, who takes on three equally-powerful fairies and a sword-swinging prince and ALMOST wins by turning into the best, most awesome dragon ever (sorry Smaug).

But Cruella is a clown. A sicko. Someone who wants to kill puppies to make a fashion statement. How the heck can anyone identify with that?

Even though I voted most likely, I hope not and I hope it plays in a similar way as the OUAT episode Sympathy for the De Vil with the flashback parts.

Wasn't a fan of that episode, as it pretty much went against all the established rules for evil that they had set up in the series thus far. "Evil isn't born, dearie; it's made."

I'm pretty sure they are following these books with the good side/bad side..

For Cruella's side of the book it states...
in Prison, Cruella tells her Story, insisting that she wanted a Dalmatian Boat, with the Dalmatian Puppies in Sailor Uniforms, acting like she is the innocent one.
