Crowds in late August

I will be making a trip to the world from 8/23-9/1. This is the first time that we will be making a trip to WDW this late in the summer as we have always went during July. I noticed that the parks hours are slightly shorter so I was curious to know if there are generally less crowds in the park the last week of August compared to the heavy crowds we are used to in July. Thanks.

Last time we went the last part of Aug. into Sept. it was not very busy at all. most everything we saw was just a short wait 5-20 min max. It was a nice time to go, but we did have more than a few things closed for refurb, but that was expected.

We were there from Sept 24-Oct 1 last year and the waits were 5-10 minutes for most rides/attractions. Some of the Fast Passes weren't even opened because it wasn't needed. The rides in all 4 parks that were from 10-20 minute waits were Splash Mountain, Peter Pan, Thunder Mountain, Soarin', and Tower of Terror. There was no lines for a lot of rides. You could get right off and go back on with no wait.

We are going back this year in mid September. I don't think there is any time of the year I'd rather go than September. It is great to not wait in line.

it isn't that bad at the end of Augest then it is in the begining of the month. Florida starts school in the mid-Augest. Then in the end of the month all the kids are getting readly for school. My family always went down then then I had to go to high school and I was in band. I had to go to band camp. So I haven't been down there during that time since then. Have Fun.

As far as the park hours starting to decline, they begin to decrease about the second or third week in August. Normally I leave Disney after the first week in August and I pick up a revised Times Guide. I always notice that the parks aren't open as late and they don't open as early. Mid-August is the time when most of the population in the parks for the summer falls off.
