Hi Everyone

I have just registered for the 2007 WDW marathon, better get down to the gym:) and was wondering what the crowds will be like the week before, 1st Jan - 7th Jan and the week after, 8th Jan - 14th Jan as I don't know whether to have a weeks holiday there either before I run or after it.

Thanks

Mark

I think crowds get progressively slightly smaller as you move away from NYE, but as has been said many times recently, it's never really not crowded in the World these days.

If you have your choice, the second week in January is very off peak. The first week, you will still have lingerers from NYE, as well as visitors with kids who don't return back to school for a scattered period of time...which will start as late as Monday January 8th at many schools in 2007.

my GF and I went this time (2nd week jan) last year and it was great! It was a little chilly but the lines were next to nothing. I think The entire week we were there we waited 15min for Peter Pan, but that was it.

2nd week would be better for crowds. As others have said the first few days after NYE will be a little more crowded. I was just there 1/10-1/15 and the longest wait was for Soarin (about 30 min) plus we got really lucky and had 2 80 degree days (Unusual)

One benefit of the first couple of days after NYE is some of the Christmas decorations are still up. I think Osbourne Lights were up until 1/8 this year.

If you have never seen WDW with its Christmas finest it would be worth a little more crowds to go the first week.:xmas:

I'd go the second week, that way you can reward yourself for running the race! Plus the crowds will be lower just because most schools are back in session.

I went the first week this past January and truthfully it wasn't too bad. There were crowds, but not excessive (definitely not like they were a week before!) and the majority of the Christmas festivities were still going on.

Now I'm sure the week after was a little less crowded, since more people were in school by then...but truthfully, the first week isn't as bad as a lot of people think.

We went the 2nd week this year. The first weekend was slightly crowded due to the marathon but after than it broke up. Started to get heavy again the last weekend due to the long weekend for MLK. The rest of the week was fine.

We went this year from Jan 8-15 and we are definately going back next year at the same time.

Our longest wait was 35 minutes for soarin'. All the other rides were anywhere from walk-on to 10 minutes.

We did notice that the saturday of MLK weekend was starting to get crowded, but by then we were just wondering the park. We rode and saw everything by our 5th day, and that was taking it easy. We went back and rode a few things again and even went through all of epcot during our stay.

Our next trip we plan to arrive on the 4th and stay til the 14th in january 2007.

Thanks everyone for your help, I have now decided to go for the whole two weeks (why have one when you can have two weeks at WDW):sohappy:
