How are the crowds a week before Christmas? I would have really loved to go the week after Christmas but I heard the crowds are horrible plus the room rates are very high.

yes and yes. The crowds are horrible.. But much more so the week between x-mas and New years. Thats the busiest week in terms of park attendence. if you can I would suggest the first week in Dec. its not very busy and the decorations are all up

We were in WDW last year the week before Christmas and the crowds were not bad until the weekend prior to Christmas. The previous weekdays were really managable.

Two years ago, we went the first week of December and it was great. The decorations were up and we enjoyed all the Holiday happenings -- the Osborne Lights, Candlelight processional and of course, MVMCP. You want to catch them all!

I understand the second week of December is also usually very light in attendance so I would suggest the first or second week. Hopefully, it will work out for us to be there again this year at that time!! :)

The first week or two are really nice times to go. If at all possible, try to make the trip before the schools start letting out. It's like an overnight transformation when the schools start letting out! Back in my CP days in 2002, one day the parks were kinda slow and the next day you couldn't even hardly walk through the magic kingdom. The week before and the week after Christmas are the worst.

If possible, I'd avoid those weeks. If not, it is still possible to enjoy your trip, just expect crowds and use fast passes wisely. Allow extra time to get from point a to point b and line up early for parades and fireworks. December is a wonderful time to go, because of all the decorations and extra festivities.

Enjoy your trip!

Ditto on the first week in December thing! I've done it a half-dozen times and there's virtually no one there. The max. wait I've ever had for any attraction was about 20 minutes. And, as others mentioned, all the Christmas stuff is up and running.
