My daughter wanted me to ask all of your wise folks which would be better for walking around Disney World. Thanks in advance. We will be there the 20th thru the 27th of May 2005 if that helps.

I've never worn Crocs but I do have a pair of Teva's that are outstanding! My Teva's have a high arch support and thick heel padding for walking on sidewalks and hard surfaces. They aren't exactly water proof (suede) but I usually don't hesitate to get them wet. They were extremely expensive. So, if you can get a comfortable sandle or shoe with arch support, heel padding, wet performance and style, that should be good for all the parks including the water parks and even a few full service restuarants.

I haven't tried either, but I have heard good things about them for Disney World. I tired ordering some Crocs online, but they were back ordered. I haven't been able to find any around here.

My SIL love Tevas.

I just got a new pair of Ecco shoes and plan to wear them. I also got some Memory fit insoles for my lands end summer mocs and that works great too.

Just be sure that if you wear sandals, that they are comfortable enough to walk the miles you are going to walk in the parks. You don't want to have serious foot pain by day 2. Don't forget sunscreen on your feet either if they are going to be exposed. That is one of the most painful sunburn places.

I wear Reefs. I had trouble with blisters wearing Tevas. I live in Orlando and always wear my Reefs around the parks without any trouble. They are great sandals and last *forever*.

Hope that helps!

I had a pair of Reefs, but the problem I had with them is when it would rain, my feet would risk slipping out of them. I have a pair of Tevas now that I wear most of the time and not only have they been alot more comfortable for walking(It takes several hours before my feet even begin to feel sore, as opposed to the Reefs that started after only a couple of hours) but they also have the straps going around the back of your feet so that they are more secure in wet weather. Tevas are designed specifically for walking long distances in and doing active things outdoors, so you really can't go wrong with them, IMO.

I'll be able to tell you about the Crocs in about three weeks. My wife absolutely loves them (she uses them for her walks everyday) and insisted that I get a pair for our trip (five days and counting!) I think they will work fine, help keep my feet cool and stuff like that, but I think they will be best for the water parks and wet rides, nothing to hold water and make me go squish all day long! I think they are a little fragile (the strap on mine already broke once) but they are cheap enough to make it worth trying.

i have owned 3 pair of tevas and ill never buy again after purchasing a pair of Chaco's. you can custom make the sandal from the color and different types of soles. 3 different kinds offered.................. you must check this out before buying any tevas again. take my word......... here is the url. i wear the model that has the strap that goes between the toe but ive worn both.

Personally, I have worn Tevas before, but my new favorite are Birkenstocks. Once they are broken in, they are extremely comfortable - they basically mold to your foot shape.
I just returned from Disney and was extremely pleased with the Birks - I wore them every day with no blisters, hot spots, etc.

I agree. With Chaco's you can adjust the straps totally, so you don't have any rubbing or blisters.

My 2 cents is to wear which ever is the most comfortable for you. If you haven't broken either in then I would carry extra shoes to change into in case they start to rub. I wore my Tevas around Blizzard Beach last June all day and had no problem, well no problem if you don't count the tops of your feet getting sun burned. So no matter what you decide to wear, make sure that you put sun screen on your feet, or have a real hot foot (pun intended)!

My advice:

I wouldn't make a pair of Crocs or Tevas my only shoes for a long visit. But as a "switchoff" they are fine. I find the straps do pull and tug depending on how you walk and can irritate the tops of your feet/ankle. A good sneaker (that you've broken in) AND a pr of Tevas would be my choice.

I've never seen crocs before! They look colorful and cute...but, I would think that all that plastic would be mighty uncomfortable during the hot weather. Or am I wrong?

plus, the teva velcro on some models is really annoying and can be a pain. real bulky around the top of foot and ankle.

As the happy owner of 3 pairs of CROCS (and another on the way) I have to say they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever walked in! :) I wouldn't trade them for anything ~ they're like walking on marshmallows! :)
