I have an idea that I would like to submit to WDI when the time arises, however, I really need it to look as professional as possible and be able to stand on its own when reviewed in committee. Does anybody know waht the standard manner in which WDI projects are presented on paper. What tense is used. Should I provide an abstract idea/ in depth idea/ or both. Any help beyond myq questions would be appreciated. thanks.

Um, as far as I know, Disney will not just accept any outside submissions for consideration...it opens them up to lawsuits. Is this for that college thing they were doing?

That's correct. Disney does not accept unsolicited ideas/plans, etc. Even if you are working for the company if you are not working for WDI then they do not accpet ideas. Sorry.

As for presentation.... what type are you trying to do? Is it just a storyline or is it art work? I was working on one for the WDI competition and I used first person to discribe the experience, ect. I hope that is of some help. There really isn't a set way to abstracts for WDI at least not one that is readily avalible for anyone outside of that division of the company.

If you are really looking for what they want in a presentation I suggest reading "Imagineering". It's a great book which may help answer some of your questions :).

Um Sorry, u guys are both wrong. Annually, Walt Disney World (Entertainment i beleive) opens up to its employees what is called the Creative Idea Forum. At this event, any cast member has the opportunity to submit his/her show/parade/ride ideas to WDI for possible consideration. If the idea is accepted (very rare, but it does happen) then it and the creator move on to a cross-utilization as the project consultant and his/her idea becomes considered for actual development. I was wondering if anyone had sort of a template for submission to this. How would you describe the project on paper. (My idea is for a unique meet and greet experience.)

*eeks* Okay so I'll admit when I'm wrong but that's okay I was corrected by someone else earlier LOL.

hmm Template for submission though? not sure. There ARE some ideas posted on the website for their ImagiNations competition to help with presentation ideas and such but they are art focused rather then text focused.

As I said I was working on a submission and I did it on paper. I think the best way to do that is to take the point of view of a guest and show how THEY would experience your idea. That way you would show what the guest would see rather then what would have to go on behind the scenes (that would come later).

Anyways let us know how it goes? I'm in the process of trying to apply for a WDI internship at the moment. (WDI Glendale as opposed to WDI FL because Glendale has more internships, etc... if we can ever get more then the technical ones). I'd be extremely interested in hearing about your experience. (I've already talked to imagineers regarding imagineering and had some interesting (postitive) feedback :)).

Good Luck!

Well I've heard of some procedures for submission. The first step you have to have is a "blue sky" which is basicly an overview of what you want to do. The next step is going into detail on different parts of what your idea is (building, ride, etc.) The third step is of course the presentation and you must know exactly what you what to have built or what you want to propose. And of course the biggest thing is that it must be a really great idea because Disney doesn't settle for just great or good ideas.

Kane,

why don't you just ask some of your co-workers. I'm sure you could find someone in the Park Zoo that can help you.
