Creating Magic....

Whether you are part of the group that thinks "A trip to Disney, that is magical enough", aka my entire family other than me and my daughter. Or you are of my train of thinking, "MORE is, well MORE!" I think everyone wants their trips, whether their first or 101st to be magical. Some of us are part of Planners Anonymous while others prefer to fly by the seat of their proverbial pants.

I have spent numerous hours scouring the web looking for ways to create "magic" that will make this trip even more memorable than the last. Since we are celebrating 3 birthdays, and most importantly my daughter's 5th (Mommy, I am gonna be a whole hand old!). I am asking for any and all ways to create a little magic for my Mom (who is turning 59), my husband (who is turning 38) and my soon to be 5 year old! Any and all suggestions welcome!

ways to create "magic"

Seems it gets more expensive to find ways to create "magic". Gone are the days where "magic" just happens, by running into a character walking down mainstream, a CM upgrading your room, CM going the extra mile, going on new or refreshed rides.

This is why my days at WDW are numbered. I'm tired of finding ways to create "magic" like illumination fireworks or a dessert party, it way too expensive. It like buying a new car, quick satisfaction but buyers remorse as it leaves a empty feeling.

I read some quote about how we should remind ourselves to appreciate the little things, because one day we'll look back and realize they were the big things. It's really true. :)

Have you been to Hoop Dee Doo? That's fun for all ages.
Hoop Dee Do is on the list. My mom wouldn't enjoy I don't think but definitely on a solo family trip for the future. Looks like a blast.

House of Blues Gospel Brunch....one of the best times we have ever had at WDW...good food, good entertainment..all around good time.

We had a hard time choosing between this and Ragland Road. We decided Raglan Road this trip because my daughter is obsessed with dancing and we requested a seat right in the middle of the dinner action.

I am with you, I am a crazy planner when it comes to my Disney trips. That's part of the fun in my opinion. :)

As for your question, how about one of the tours? My family did the backstage safari tour and everyone really enjoyed it. I didn't have kids then, but I do think my children would like it. Probably would depend on the child, my kids LOVE animals.

Now if you want to do something more individualized for each person whom you will be celebrating that might be easier, albeit more expensive. For you daughter there are of course numerous options, as she will be "a whole hand old" (love that by the way), and you will be in Disney World. But for your husband what about fishing? My husband has been asking to do that for years, although it never seems to fit in to our trips. We are hoping to do it this coming Jan. For your mother what about a trip to the spa? Who wouldn't love that?!

Like @LizC had said, fishing is a lot of fun in Disney. At port orleans you can go "cane pole" fishing. My DH got a kick out of that.
Have you ever heard of Tinkerbell treasures?? Some people do that. When your daughter wakes up she finds a little something that Tink had left her over night. Some people have it waiting for when you come back from the parks as well. Little things that are Disney related and for the most part are purchased ahead of time at either Dollar store or dollar section at Target. Glowsticks, a new beach ball for the pool, Disney gift card...etc.
A whole family activity?? What about the campfire at Fort Wilderness. Sit back and watch a movie and roast 'shmallows

All excellent suggestions. I thought about going down and renting some ski dos or something for my dad and my husband since we will be staying at the Contemporary and have it right outside our door. I also would like to take my daughter horseback riding, but afraid she isn't old enough yet. I think for my Mom I am just gonna let her have little stolen moments with my daughter. They are besties and have a super special relationship. It can be hard on me, but I love that they have it because I have that relationship with my Mom's mom. :)

Have you ever rented a pontoon boat? They are plenty big enough for the entire family and a nice way to spend an hour or so. You could probably decorate it for a birthday and bring some fun things on board. We had a little more fun renting one from POR than the WL only because of the amount of boat traffic when we got out toward the Poly and GF. Still a good time. Another possibility is either a Wishes or Illuminations pontoon cruise but it may be too late to book one of those for September.

That was something I seriously considered this trip. We wound up doing Pirates and Pals fireworks cruise for the first night. I am hoping on having some pirate gear for my daughter to wear and maybe have some for the rest of us too!

Me too....More, MoRE, MORE. I'm ALWAYS looking to do something more, something different than the trip before. Either it's some idea I get from reading other trip reports, viewing Disney sites or getting reviews from others who just came back... I have an ongoing list made of new things I want to do. Have you tried Characters in Flight ? This year we're going to go up because flights were cancelled last time due to bad weather. OR .. the parasailing on Bay Lake is a unique experience that we've done.

Both of those are on the "must do" list for the future. My mom has always wanted to parasail and I keep trying to talk her into it, but she won't budge.

We did this on our last trip for our step-Grandson(8). He found a gift bag on his door every morning...of course, he finally figured out who 'Tinkerbell' was...and he did the same for 'Tinkerbell'.;) 'Tinkerbell' received the most delicious Oreo cupcake and a Christmas lanyard (that she had looked at in the gift shop on the first day of the trip).

I know right?!?!?!? I practically raised my son at Disney, and so help me, EVERY time I go to Chef Mickey's at a 24 year old man, and still see that 3 yr old that got so excited about Mickey waffles!! LOL
