Based on the continued success of MNSSHP and HHN, I think Disney could do great things by throwing their hat in the ring for an unsettling/"scary" event while still keeping that Disney feel. I would love for people to jump in with their own ideas on how to tweak something but I do have a few design philosophies that I personally will be sticking to.
No gore/blood. (other than what would be allowed on a Disney TV show or movie)
Characters should always feel like their characters. No true evil Mickey or Goofys. Nothing that would ruin the image of a character
(These two rules are mostly to make the actual idea something that Disney could feasibly do)
So anyways: I present my ideas for an "scary" Disney event.
Sunset Boulevard + Tower of Terror - "Twilight Boulevard"
The ghosts residents of the Hollywood Tower Hotel and surrounding area have stepped out into the night. Old starlets, producers, and bellhops drift along the boulevard in their dated costumes, faces pale and eyes glinting in the dim light. A creepy mist seems to continue throughout the area. Distorted jazz plays on a loop as the figures jump at guests.
Inside the Hollywood Tower Hotel, the lobby is inhabited with a few actors depicting the ghosts of the guests who went up the elevator on that faithful night. They chat amongst themselves and greet riders before they enter the Library.
Rock N Roller Coaster "Blackout"
- The soundstage has gone completely dark. The power's out and you skip the preshow as it's clear no one is left in the building. Similar to Space Mountain, all the lights are turned out during the coaster and a new death metal track has been added to intensify the feeling.
Animation Courtyard - "Villians Unbound"
The villians have all escaped their portraits, but the heroes are trapped inside pushing and pounding on the glass to get out yet unable to break free. A mysterious green mist swirls through.
All of the villians will be out and about with specific ones meeting in the M&G spaces inside the building.
