so I heard a rumour that after christmas when the next flood of new CPs came, they were no longer letting them work in entertainment....but then I saw stuff about the audition for CPs only coming up so was just wondering...and if this is the case, and I decide to extend, it wouldn't affect me if i'm already in entertainment right??

Rumors about decisions like that crop up at Disney and then die a week later when the person that brought it up realizes it won't work. Go find one of your managers (okay, WAY easier said than done) and ask them for a simple answer.

Doubtful - entertainment is a large area. They need people too. It allows them to cast a larger net.

Certain groups of CPs may not be cast into certain roles based on current need, that is true, but i sincerely doubt they'd completely eliminate them from any of the current departments unless a good reason was given.

To give a little background - areas bid for CPs. They say "I need X number of CPs" and they all toss in their bids then someone doles out who gets what - sort of like a refurbishment or ration or food budget. All the participating areas do this.

Then even furthermore the CPs get split into sublocations in the assigned areas when they arrive on property. That's why CPs don't know their exact work location until they arrive. That depends on who is bidding for a CP at the time - who needs one. They fill scheduling holes.

I don't think entertainment will suddenly be going "I don't want CPs" because they are local, cheap, and can be worked lots of hours - again, cheap.

This rumor has been brought over several times and in several different versions. I've heard that the current one is CP's will only be allowed park roles, no parades/shows. Personally, the only thing I was against was training CP Entertainment CM's during their last month

it's funny because thats prety much all i did ,was parades and shows. But having cp's in entertainment does cause a lot of problems for people who are cast in shows. it throws their schedules off. And when cp's get trained in roles that many people who are already cast there do not, it creates some animocity. Some people got that a lot at mermaid. Me i never really stated i was a Cp and people treated me like a normal person. and the union folks hate em because Cp's are guarateed more hours then full time people. i'm seasonal now so i dont' have to wory about it.

Been a rumor for a while now, so until i hear it from a manager then its a rumor, though it does stink to see cps get trained in stuff you have been preferencing for years and that they get in months....:(

I wouldn't give a manager much clout ;)

Till I see it in effect, I wouldn't believe it

I've heard this rumor too but I've only heard it from ed off fulltimers so I hardly believe it. The thing about training a CP in a parade or show, you're trying to give them the experiance in a short amount of time, why not let them do a show while they're here?
Disney needs CP's badly, especially in entertainment where most of the cast is young and college aged. And think of all the full time cast members who started as CP's, that's Disney's best way of recruiting full time employees.

I agree MMP that is the whole point of the program to give the best experience, and to also help recruit. To them the training is worth it. I think about 25 % of CP's stay as full timers for a short time. or longer. I know somebody who was one of the original CP's and is still there.

We are wrapping up our recruiting season at my school for the Spring Season. We just recruited several students who auditioned for Entertainment roles. Some of them got offers extended to them for character roles and they will be heading down in January.

I would definately say this rumor is false.

I really hope this rumor is false, because I am planning on audtioning for the CP for entertainment after I graduate in May. Quick question though....if you do a CP for something other than entertainment is it easier or harder to try and get cast in entertainment if you decided to stay down there full time after your program is up?

It's only hard if your record card isn't so hot. Your record card has to meet transfer guidlines which means only one attendence reprimand and 8 points. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone, but did it change recently? It used to be one reprimand and 3 points I thought.

i remember last fall when i was a CP [Fall '05]
If i had done my Math correctly, i was supposed to get one reprimand, because i had missed, 3 days in a span of one month [it was the only time it happened]
but i was never talked to by a manager, or from anyone else.
so, i guess i might need a good disection of their attendance policy and their reprimands and such.
i am thinking of doing the CP again, might be handy to know
