CP to future employment?

I'm a graduating senior studying Econoimcs and Communications. I have decided to participate the CP this summer. I'm wondering what the likelyhood is to get a full-time job with Disney upon completion of the program. By that I mean a job that probably relates to what I'm studying rather than selling tickets or taking orders. Thanks. Any comment and suggestion is appreciated!

Well, since Disney is a big company, lots of people are willing to work for them, so it can be competive... But doing the CP does get your foot in the door with the company.

As for a suggestion, near the end of your CP, you can apply for an advance internship that relates more toward your major and that may lead you some wheres.

But come on... selling tickets and taking orders uses both your Economic and Communication skills :)

I'm another communications major, but i'm more into Public Relations. Anyway, I also agree that going for an Advanced Internship after your CP session is the best way to get into the company and to get into the position you want. Plus, if it turns out that Disney might not be the company you want to work for, an Advanced Internship always looks great on a resume.

Definitely talk to some people when you get down here to see what internships are open and what your available options are, have fun!

I don't think I'm able to apply for the advanced internship because I'll be no longer at school. The recruiter said something about the network and Disney usually promotes people within the company. Is it really so? What kind of job opportunities are there? And is it possible to step into management after the intern?

Yes your are right, selling tickets do requre some econ and com skills. It's just I have concerns about the pay.

You can definitely apply for an AI after your CP even if you have already graduated. I was going to do it, but I couldn't find an AI that interested me enough to want to do it. I'm currently still in the transition period, and I have no clue what I want to do with myself.

When you are there, you can always do the Leadership Casting Call, and get yourself a management role if you have the experience. If you can't get something right away, stay in your current role, and then apply apply apply to other open positions. Since you have a degree, you most likely will be able to move up reasonably quick.

I plan to move back in June (after I watch my brother graduate high school). I'm actually really hoping to get into the I/O psych grad program that I applied to at UCF. But if I don't, I just plan on getting regular role and work my way up like everyone else.

Good luck to you! I'm sure everything will work out, and you will hopefully find yourself a great job within the company!

Good Luck guys!
You lot are so lucky to get the opportunity to work at disney after your program has ended... After the cultural rep program the only chance we have to work for disney is on cruise line...
