cp question

I was looking at the presentation dates, and the one at my college is mid-way into November, and I was wondering if such a late presentation means that some of the positions are already filled and therefore I'd have a lesser chance of getting a desired position. Basically, I'm asking when they start assigning CPs positions.

Also, at the CP residences, is there anything resembling a computer lab? Are there places that Disney provides where one could work on, say, Visual Studio .NET projects or something like that.

Thanks a lot.

Well, about 2 to 3 weeks after you interview, if you're accepted, they'll send you an acceptance letter telling you which role you will be working. The first time I interviewed, it was one of the last presentations, and they gave me QSF&B, which I didn't want. SO the next semester, I went to one of the earlier presentations, and was able to land Hospitality. I would say that going to an earlier presentation, if you can, will improve your chances of getting what you want!

lat presentations do not necessarily mean not getting your dream role. But if you are worried about it, you can always do the online e-presentation:
http://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com/sap/its/mimes/zh_wdwcp/apply/epresentation.html

But I would rather go to the presentation in person and interview with the recruiter there. But either way, if you do not want to do Food and Beverage, let the recruiter know during your interview as they would rather put you/offer you a roll in something that your enjoy more then sticking you some wheres where you would hate, or offer you something that you would not accept. But you must remember that most rolls are in food and beverage and Merchandise as they have the most positions to fill.

The housing complexes do have computer labs but from what I understand only have the standard computer programs on them, nothing special or too advance. If you can bring your own computer with you, there is high-speed DSL in each apartment now for your enjoyment =)

As was noted above, they are assigning students' roles from the very beginning. The longer you wait, the fewer roles are available. That doesn't mean you won't get what you want, it just means you have a better chance the sooner you apply.

As for the computer labs, each complex does indeed have one. The one in Vista Way is actually a Disney Learning Center, so those are the nicest. The ones in Chatham Square and The Commons are inundated with spyware and the like since they go basically unmonitored. Not to mention the fact that they run on a dial-up connection and have little to no software installed. I can't reccommend bringing your own computer enough.

Dial up! That should be illegal! And I'm going to be flying and the only good computer at our house is my brother's, and he's on it all the time playing counter-strike:source. The other one is an old 500mhz p3 that's only good for browsing online and internet radio (and it's win98, so I can't even install good c++ dev programs). :(

Oh, also, is there a time limit for the computer labs? I read in a blog that there is a 45 minute time limit (the blog was from 2001, however).

Dial-up at Chatham and Commons, broadband at Vista Way. But, again, this only applies to the computer labs. Each apartment at all the complexes is wired with DSL (albeit rather slow DSL, but faster than dial-up and it can be upgraded).

And there is a time limit at the Computer Labs. 30 minutes, I believe. Strictly enforced at Vista Way, but the other two are much more on the honor system.

You're in college and don't have your own computer? Not being mean or anything, just wondering.

There are two computers in my house: one is my brother's and it's a p4 3.2ghz with 1gb ram and a radeon 9800pro; the other is a 500mhz p3 that's only good for browsing online and typing things (and it's win98, so I can't install visual studio 2005 express on it). And I'm not going to be bringing either with me to orlando. It would cost me about 700 bucks to re-do the win98 comp and put in a 3000+ venice and an x800gt (i think) and some new ram and xp whatnot. I don't really have 700 dollars and wouldn't spend it if I did (because I can use my school's computers that have vs.net 2003 and all I do at home is browse online and listen to internet radio).

No, I wanted to know if they already had it there. Lots and lots of computers have visual studio. It's the industry standard for application development and all kinds of other stuff. High schools have it, universities have it, and I'm hoping Disney Learning Centers have it.

I doubt it. The Learning Centers are very ill-equipped. Basically, they're to type up homework assignments, check e-mail, surf the internet, and IM.
