Cowes Week Fireworks

Ventured out into the night to witness the spectacular that is Cowes Week Fireworks. Probably one of the biggest yearly displays in this country.

Standing on our side of the Solent (I think it is about 8 miles away), we viewed the fireworks... including Face and Apple fireworks. They were quite impressive.

At this point my camera goes "you fool, you didn't load me with fresh batteries"... and dies. So that is all the photos

The strangest part was because of the distance, we saw the finale, then heard it when everything had stopped.

Anyway, not bad for free. Maybe again next year!

From what I can tell, they were all going off from a barge in the solent. Plenty of ground level ones, and some big-big ones. One of my favourites looked like a fibre-optics waving in the wind. The faces were cool, but the apples were better.

I found this:
Our Fireworks display includes over 10,000 fireworks plus effects and music. Up to 170,000 people watch in Cowes and from the mainland - it's big, it's spectacular and it's noisy! This year's display is on Friday 13th August

Wight Leisure this year is running the fireworks on Friday August 13 on behalf of Cowes Week Sponsorship Limited. Kimbolton will provide the display for the second year and it will again be set to music – this can be heard on the Parade, along Princes Green and on Cowes Week Radio 106.2FM. The fireworks start at 9.30pm and last for approximately 25 minutes. Due to health & safety restrictions, numbers on the Parade are limited to 7,800 – so be sure to arrive early. However, two of the best areas the view the fireworks from are Princes Green to Egypt Point and East Cowes.
