I hope this is in the right section,

Is there some sort of cooling system in some of the characters costumes, I mean when it' 80 degrees in the shade, the people in the thick Pooh costumes would overheat right?

Or is it just the standard "Drink ALOT of water"

Everytime I go to MK I wonder about this, can anyone shed some light?

My Keys to the Kingdom tour guide talked about this briefly. He said the cast members are offered ice packs for inside the costumes but that most turn them down because they melt so quickly and just make it worse.

He said depending on the temperature outside, cast members change place frequently so that they are not overheated in the costumes. There's a certain amount of time they are allowed in the costumes. I'm sure some CM's around here can answer this more specifically.

There isn't a cooling system inside the costumes. Simple enough, most cm's walk around with their heads off backstage. From what I saw, there is water provided backstage right before the walk onstage. Haha so you would see a man holding woody's head drinking loads of water on hot days.

Haha thanks keys to the kingdom.

They experimented with inside costume cooling devices but they often failed and the CM would be carrying around extra weight.

Our tour guide on our last trip said the only exception was with the Beast's costume which due to its size and weight did require air cooling inside the suit.

Uh.. nope. Air cooling in that little jacket he wears? I don't think so.

Our friends on hot days are only asked to visit guests for short periods of time (15 to 20 minutes). Since Walt Disney World is a 'timeless' place, what is a nice backstage break only appears to be a few minutes before our friends return to the guests. So when you see Pluto (no air conditioned collar) or the Chipmunks (now they don't wear anything!) leave the flagpole at Town Square only to return a moment later, be assured they are rested up, had plenty of water, and are anxious to see you! Any air conditioning found is in their backstage rest area, stocked with water, nuts, puppy treats, and anything else our friends need.
