Coronado, POFQ, or Value?

We usually travel to WDW every few years. After a great trip staying at AOA (LM) last year, I wasn't expecting making a 2014 trip. Well we are taking a trip to South Carolina in July and decided to do a short 4 day trip to WDW.
We have never stayed anywhere except Value:ASM, POP, AOA due to cost with no complaints.
We head to the parks early, take a pool/nap break, and head back leaving very little time in the resort.

This year we have the opportunity to stay at Coronado at a reduced rate with my daughters dance group. Is it worth it? Some of the ratings are poor compared to the Values.

I would also love to stay at POFQ, but there is no discount available. I am trying to justify the price difference. Is it worth it?
It will be my husband 9 year old, and me

Have you checked out POR? It's by far our favourite. We stayed at Coronado last year and it's quite nice, but we weren't thrilled with the food, and seeing business people in suits (it's a conference resort) was a bit weird. POR has great food and just feels so relaxed. Don't get me wrong though, the FQ is nice too.

CSR is definitely worth it! It has a great main pool area and offers many deluxe amenities at a mod price. CSR also offer business club level rooms now with lounge access.

CSR has queen beds, a sliding wooden door separating the sink area from the room (can be good for little ones napping in a pack n play) but only one sink.

Amenities include a fitness center, spa, free wi-fi, tanning beds, a sauna, salon, full menu room service and a night/dance club.

The resort offers the same toiletries as the deluxes (except GF). CSR has separate shampoo and conditioner instead of the shampoo/conditioner combo at the other mods and values (a small thing, I know, but it means I don't have to pack shampoo and conditioner).

CSR has the largest hot tub of the mods and one of the longest pool slides on Disney property. The pool, slide and playground area is great and all located in one area at the main pool.

Bus service is terrific and is not shared with another resort.

We have stayed at both and each are equally nice. We prefer the food at Coronado. The boat service from POR to DD is nice for added food options though. Our daughter much preferred Coronado. The business people we hardly noticed and when we did, it did not have an impact on our vacation.

I think Coronado is the most scenic of the mods. It is just gorgeous. The only thing I didn't like about it was how HUGE it is, especially since I usually stay at the values, too. It felt like I was walking forever just to get to the main building, and we weren't really that far away. You can take the bus around to the front, but that seems like a hassle.

I feel it is worth it for you. If you have only stayed at values so far, I think staying in a moderate at a discounted rate and for less than a full vacation week is a great way to test the waters and try it out, risk-wise.

I have stayed at each moderate resort. I like Coronado a lot. The only one I do not like is CBR. I would just as soon stay at POP than there.

Since you mentioned you will be in SC already, I assume you are driving. One advantage of the mods, distance to get to your car in the parking lot at your resort is usually pretty short. DHS and AK are really easy to get to by car. If you get a dining plan, Pepper Market is one of the best values for a quick service credit on property.

When I have stayed there, the other guest have not ....... diminished the magic for me personally due to their attire, or their reason for being in Central Florida. In your case, you will likely actually share a common interest with them, which is really more of a plus if you think about it.

If you choose CSR, look at the map to assist with room request. I liked Casitas 4. (downside: distance to Feature Pool).

We have been very happy with Coronado over POFQ. Pool is better and we like the grounds/ambiance much better but then again we enjoy vacationing in the caribbean so it has that kind of feel. The food court has taken a downturn though since they changed menu items and dining options from three years ago. All in all I would say it is worth a try. The shampoos are deluxe grade and there are doors between the sleeping area and the sink which we really liked for the privacy it affords while getting ready in the morning or doing your nightime stuff in the evening.

Well I started at POP, next was CBR, and then CSR. I absolutely LOVED CSR. The resort is probably in my opinion the most beautiful of the WDW resorts...yes it is big but wow the way the sun plays on that lake ...the southwest theme, the gorgeous landscaping.
Kids liked the pool at CBR but never even used the pool at POP because it was our first visit and all we did was MK, character dine and sleep. Gosh it was a blast.
I don't know what the price difference is but if it is $ 30 bucks a night more to stay at CSR versus POP or AoA I would definitely do CSR. Ask for the cabana section if you have that option

I love the grounds at POFQ...and the size...you are never far from anywhere at the resort. Not to mention the bus service has always been great...It's my go to place! And if you have a group/family with varied interests...the food court is nice for providing different choices for a quick meal!
