Yeah, it looks pretty great - kinda giving me Incredibles vibes
I think doing a "retro Future" look definitely makes the most sense for the area rather than trying to keep updating a true futuristic look
The funny thing is, that's what they were trying to accomplish with the '94 redo. They called it "the future that never was".
The old (original) look was considered futuristic at the time it was designed built (late 60's-early 70's) but was really showing it's age by the mid-late 80's. They hung onto it way longer than they should have.
The '94 redo was garish with all the "exposed" metal and bolted-on elements but the intention was to make it look like a future imagined much earlier in the century - one that could be permanent and not need updating, similar to the general look of all the other lands.
It lasted more-or-less for 30 years so I suppose that's not too bad but it's funny that the original look which at the time it was conceived, was thought of as super futuristic is now what everyone is calling retro-future.
It went from the future, to a stale and outdated vision of the future, to a retro-future, mostly within my lifetime.
I agreed Tomorrowland looked outdated by the time of the original change and it made sense that they went with that slightly cartoonish version since EPCOT Center had taken on the mantle of what we expected with the
real future.
I also agree that with the passing of time, it now looks way better with that version being old enough to be called retro than the one we're slowly moving away from - it's just funny how cyclical things are sometimes... kind of like paint on a castle.
