We are going to WDW this May for our Honeymoon, We always wanted one of thoses coocoo clocks in Germany EPCOT im getting one this time as a wedding gift to us, anyone ever buy one there??

Sorry, I've only ever bought my cuckoo clocks from Switzerland and Austria.

The ones in EPCOT Germany do look reasonably made though, even though they are a lot more expensive than buying them from Germany (you are saving on the airfare to Germany though;)).

We have bought Engel Dolls, but never a coo co clock, from the Germany pavillion. We have bought a clock from the store in the Mitsukoshi store in Japan that had characters that resembled Disny Characters with a castle that plays music, but not Disney songs. You have to look we have noticed, alot of the things in the "Countries" are not made there. The pewter mugs in Germany were made in Thailand, or somewhere like that. I am not sure of the origin and/or quality of the coo coo clocks. They do ship, we had three dolls, signed by the late Helmut Engle two trips ago. We loved that guy and his wife. His son Marcus was there for the Bear and Doll Event) The shipping cost was a deal, becasue if they ship them, there was no sales tax. Congratulations on your wedding too!!

A quick question on the "differences" in English.

Why do you call "Cuckoo" clocks "Coo coo" clocks?

I'm not too sure if you have a bird call the Cuckoo in the US. In England, we listen for the first Cuckoo of Spring. The reason it's called the Cuckoo is because its call makes that sound. The bird that pops out of the window at the top of the clock is a European Cuckoo and the sound it makes on the hour, is a copy (and depending on the quality of the clock, either good or bad) of the bird call of the Cuckoo.

I just call it a coo coo, because the bird says "coo coo". And I have no doubt you have more Cuckoos in England.

There's a sad sort of clanging
From the clock in the hall
And the bells in the steeple, too
And up in the nursery
An absurd little bird
Is popping out to say coo-coo
(Coo-coo, coo-coo)

I guess i have to sit through "The Sound of Music" of few too many times.

Its the same clock......I just spelled like it sounds I guess.

I was just about to reply, but I noticed you edited out the "Jack Nicholson's Cuckoo's Nest" :animwink:

Thank you! One of my all time favorite movies.

(I know it's kinda odd for a guy to like musicals...but say what you will, it's still a favorite of mine)
