If I was booking a vacation and wanted to stay at the Contemporary's main building would that be considered a Tower Room? I was on the Disney Worl Official website and there are wing rooms and standard rooms and tower rooms???

Yes, the tower rooms are the main building, and it's a great place to stay. I have been there four times in the last four years, and always stay in the tower. Try to get the theme park view since that has a great view of the Magic Kingdom and the firewoeks (plus it's lit all night long, so we leave the curtains open during the night. If you get the lagoon view, you get to see the water pageant every night, which is cute, but after the first couple nights, it gets sort of old.

You also can't beat being able to walk to the magic Kingdom in 10 minutes (which also means you can avoid lines at the Monorail station at the end of the day to get back to you room too.

The main building, The A frame structure with the resturants and shops is concidered the Tower. The three story lowrise structures on the north and south sides of the tower are the wings. Each wing had four buildings. three ran north/south and two of them were right at the parking lot the third was back next to bay lake. the fourth building ran between the three connected by a vestibul linking the hallways. I dont know about the tower and how they classifi the rooms based on the view you get from either the east(bay lake) or west( seven seal lagoon) but if your staying in the wings there were three clasifacations of wing rooms in the 70s. There were the standard view which was a view of the parking lot which were on the west side of the first two buildings, water view which gave you a view of bay lake the other north/south building, and an inbetween catagory I cant recall the name of that gave you a courtyard view( No parking lot, No water)

Before checking in. If you have your reservation number and have paid in full request a MK view in the Tower. It's great!!! We stayed at the Contemp 3 times. Twice in the tower with the MK view, once in the wings. Go for the Tower with the MK view:)

This time we are staying at the Beach Club - something different. I hope you have a great time.

If they are mentioned as being the tower I would imagine they are the ones not facing anything. If they mean the Garden Rooms which come off the Contemp like wings - I didn't like them.:(

FYI -- Right now it is generally hard to get rooms at the Contemporary because it has largely been leased out the military while their on-property resort, Shades of Green, is being renovated.

Only military families and their guests can stay in those rooms. So, rooms for the rest of us are limited right now.
