We are going to WDW next March and are thinking of the contemporary. curious to know what people think of it. Stayed at the wilderness last year in november and it was more noisy than we thought. I know the CR is older but has it been upkept? Would also like to eat at Chef Mickey. any feedback would help. :)

Of the four Dinsney resorts we have stayed in the Cont. is the quietest when in the actual room. Aside from the running up and down of the "halls". Very little noise is heard in the room. Step outside the door and its a whole different world.

As for up keep, the tower is not bad, and the rooms feel clean, but you can tell that you are in an older hotel. I know that they have had a lot of water damage in the last few months, between the pipes bursting, and the Jeanie there is some visiable water damage.

Hope this helps to answer your questions

I stayed at the Cont. When I was very young. and teh most vivid memory i have is getting lost looking for my room after getting Ice for teh room with my little brotehr back in teh 80's.
which probably leads to it being my least favorite Delux Resort. lol
I like to ride through it on the monorail though. I've always thought that was a cool feature ever since I was 6 (i'm 23 now).

But if you're looking for quiet, and Deluxe, then I really reccomend the Polyniesan Resort. I've always foudn it very Peaceful.
other than getting lost (and being scarred for life becasue of gettign lost), my other problem with the contemporary, is that you are Indoors everywhere you go.

I like walking from my room to another building and to the monorail. taking in teh environment around me is a big part of going to Disney.

I have always enjoyed the Contemporary, though the walk from the Garden Wings can be a bit lengthy depending on your room. I havent stayed there in a really long time though, so I can't give you any input about the present condition.

As to your other question, I would highly reccommend Chef Mickey's, especially if you have young children. Be forwarned that this is not a quiet peaceful dining experience, but is perfect for little ones. At certain times of the day the crowds aren't bad either.

The biggest non-suite room I've seen was at the Contemporary in the Garden Wing in the first floor. It had windows overlooking Bay Lake and a walk-out patio going to the beach volleyball courts. We like the Contemporary very much. Being older resorts, the Contemporary and Poly have bigger non-suite rooms than the Grand Floridian. We have stayed at all 3 monorail resorts and rank them in the following order:

1. Poly (our first love, watching fireworks from the beach is the best)

2. Contemporary (elevator to monorail when staying in a Tower room, great)

3. Grand Floridian (elegance without being too stuffy)
