Contemporary Pool

I've stayed at the contemporary before but we didn't use the pool. Can you tell me if the pool has those little jets with a seat/shelf along the wall like the pool at the poly by any chance? Anything good or bad you can add? And yes, I already know it's like the most boring themed pool on all of disney property (sigh).

Hey Evil Queen, the Contemporary is my favorite resort, but the pool is probably my least favorite thing about it! The main pool is shaped kind of strangely. The hot tub is separate from the main pool, but it's very close to the main pool. You wouldn't really feel separated from the rest of your group if you're in the hot tub and they're in the main pool. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure the shelf you're talking about isn't in the pool at the Contemporary.

Also, if the main pool is really crowded and you just want a relaxing swim, check out the round pool at the edge of the marina. My family and I were lucky enough to have that pool to ourselves for a few hours once when the main pool was fairly busy.

Have fun! :)

There's one jetted pool in the *middle* of the main pool, and one adjacent to the slide. If you look at Disney's webpage for the CR you will see them in the photo.

When we traveled to WDW when I was a kid in 1977 I saw the contemporary and had wanted to stay there ever since (kinda a childhood dream). This year I was thinking of cracking open the nut and fulfilling the dream...

Two things kept me from doing it and one was the pool. Even though the idea of the contemporary is a "spartan, less is more" approach the pool seems so ho-hum for a deluxe. I have to admit we have stayed at the Beach Club and that pool is tough to top but for the money I would expect a lot more than what is offered.

In the end we saved a ton of money and decided on the Coronado Springs Resort and that pool seems pretty great. I guess it all depends on your station in life too but with a 9-year old DD a nice pool for mid day break is essential.

we have stayed at the contemporary several times and the pool happens to be the favorite for our son (9). our daughter enjoys it too (7), but not like he does. My wife and I cant seem to figure it out, because as others have said, its really nothing special. But, if it makes them happy, we are happy. The kids love the water gun play area and the slide. remember, it doesn't take much to please a young kid!!:sohappy:

thanks for the input. my granddaughter loves any type of pool so she'll be happy. i was just really curious since we're doing a short trip that has ended up morphing into an impromptu 13 person family reunion  and with plans for most of our time with everyone there to be spent at mk and we're the only ones so far staying on the monorail loop it makes our resort the most likely where everyone will meet. my granddaughter loved the pool at the poly, por, pofq, and cbr so i know for the rest of our trip she'll be happy either way. the other times we've gone it's been to cold for us to go really use the pools and when we do all adult trips we either use the hot tubs or don't do any type of pool stuff at all in trade for other adult things we can't do when there are kids with us.

speaking of "adult" activities...is the pool bar fairly close by lol?

Father said water in CR pool is just as wet. Getting wet is objective for most kids sweating in the FLA heat. It is a very plain layout. Least attractive design. Maybe the closest bar though.

well that will keep our crew happy lol...wet kids happy with slide and adults with a bar close enough to get a drink but not feel like you have to run back and forth to far from pool to bar. that should work :animwink: maybe one day they'll jazz up the pool surroundings a little...who knows.
