Contemporary or Polynesian???

We absolutely LOVE the Polynesian. We really liked the Contemporary too, but once we stayed at the Poly, we never left!! LOL Something extremely relaxing about getting food at Captain Cooks, sitting by the quiet pool, with lunch and an occassional cocktail, along with watching Wishes from the beach, after a very tiring day, and being a few steps from your room, and falling into a blissful sleep, only to wake up the next morning to do it all over again!!!!

Love the contemporary because you have the option to walk to the MK. Nothing like watching Wishes, then walking in to catch the late parade while everyone else is leaving!!

Definitely Polynesian. The theming is amazing, and being able to watch fireworks on the beach is just great. The Polynesian also has an fantastic restaurant, and it is our favorite resort. It just seems to have more of a theme than the Contemporary, in my opinion. Both resorts are great though!

I don't care as much for the Polynesian because the decor feels "dated". I think that it is just the colors or something. I really enjoyed staying at the Contemporary and enjoyed walking to the Magic Kingdom. To get to EPCOT, we just hopped on the monorail, changed at TTC, and rode the rest of the way. It is so hard to predict what each person will like more at one resort versus another. A vacationer probably can't go wrong with either (they're both deluxes) and so read the reviews, look at the pictures (use Allears.net), and see which fits your expectations a little more.

My vote goes to the contempory. I just like the contempory better than the poly. Poly to me is darker, their food court is TINY, and the lay out doesn't interst me. On the other hand I love the contemporary inside and out.

I have only stayed at the Contemporary, but when I gave my family the choice of returning to the Contemporary OR trying the Poly for the first time (we've at least been in there and walked around quite a bit) - they chose the Contemporary. I loved being able to walk to MK, loved having the boat launch to WL right there, and loved that the TTC was only one stop away on the monorail for easy Epcot access. The pool isn't as exciting as other pools, but that may also be why the pool didn't feel overly crowded mid August...which was very nice as well. Bus service was good, being on the monorail is definintely convenient, and you have lots of dining options. Plus, I love the COntemporary b/c it just feels like I'm at WDW! No other WDW resort gives me that "I'm at Walt Disney WOrld" feeling more (or even comes close) to the Contemporary. Love it!

My boys had wanted to stay at the CR. My daughter wanted the GF. I chose the Poly for our first visit. After that I asked if they would like to stay at the CR or the GF the next go around after visiting both. They said, "No way!"

We love the Poly!

If you want to feel like you're in Hawaii, then go for Poly!:) You can lie on the beach and watch the fireworks and they pipe in the music.
But of course, if you have theme park view, then you can see it from your balcony!:D

They are both great resorts but they are two completely different types of resorts.
Everyone is going to have their opinion but choose which theming you prefer.

I enjoy the Poly more because the rooms are more quiet and private. The Contemporary is a tourist attraction unto itself. While the Poly has some of that in the House, even to go swimming you have to truck through the hotel at the Contemporary to get to the pool and it is a noisy hotel. You pretty well share every restaurant, bar and common area with non-guests. I have to say I do love the size of the rooms in the Contemporary though and it great hotel on a rainy day where everything is contained under one roof. If you don't have young kids the walk to and from the MK is also a bonus. Downside you really need to keep an even closer eye on children with so many guests wandering around. Me, I just like the privacy of the Poly for the majority of the resort.

Have stayed at both and love both for different reasons. We spend most of our time at MK so I would stay at the CR because it's a short walk to MK. And, if you can swing it, get a tower room with a MK view. Watching the fireworks from your balcony is AWESOME!! But, if you spend more time at the other parks, then I'd say Poly. The themeing is beautiful, it is quiet, and two words: Tonga Toast!! Basically, you can't loose either way. Have fun!

There is no wrong answer to this question. :) We usually stay at the Poly but the CR is easily my second-favorite resort (I am usually pulled towards the Poly simply because I prefer the island motif), and both are fantastic, unique, and fun properties with great staff. You can't go wrong!

Some may be shocked by my answer but I say do the Contemporary. The Polynesian may have some work going on. I know they are planning on putting in a hot tub near the volcano pool and I heard it could start as early as September. Also new rooms are going to start going in some time the end of this year. That might be after September but I don't know for sure. I would hate for you to go there and have stuff walled off and being worked on. Im actually going to try the Contemporary for the first time the last week of September.

Aloha
