Contemporary Hotel full

I was just wondering if anyone else is having trouble getting a room at the contemporary hotel. We are going down 2/5 = 2/9 and I called the date that the Annual Passholder rates came out and the hotel was totally booked. I thought the cast member must be confused but then I called back and another cast member said that the only day available in all of January and February was 1/31/03. She said that they are giving great discounts to military people since the Shades of Green is closed. My teenagers dream has been to stay in the Contemporary and now we can finally almost afford it. I was also told that if a room became available there would not be a discount. Is all this true?

Is the Contemporary alot better than the Polynesian? Thanks.

I just called the travela gents line and they are totally booked. They have an opening on Feb 1st for a party of 2 or you would have to wait until after peak season which starts on the 13th. Can you change your dates? If you can, then you will have a much better chance. Let me know if you need any help.

Thank you Pam, I appreciate your help. I was hoping someone from your company could get me in. I guess it truly is booked. I don't want to change my dates because I want to be there when the park is EMPTY. Plus I really need to take advantage of AP rates. I now have concierge level at Poly for $266 including taxes. I guess my son will just have to get over it. You are so kind to try to help me.

Military could be the reason.

I don't know for sure... However, I do know that since Shades of Green (The DOD/Military Resort) is being totally renovated for the next 2 years. (or so) When we call to make reservations we are getting accomodations in the Contemporary for the same rate as SOG. That could possibly explain... I suspect that several rooms have been blocked for that reason.

You are correct. Disney has been putting the SOG visitors in the wing rooms of the Contemp.

I haven't stayed at the Contemporary yet but the Polynesian is very cool, I think you will be pleased. And you can always ride over on the monorail and enjoy a meal at the Contempory which will help ease your teens pain.:animwink:

I like the Polynesian much more than the Contemporary. The theme at the Polynesian is great.

I would keep trying to get the Contemporary though if your heart is really set on it. Someone could cancel at any time so keep trying. If you need some help, send me a PM, because I know I have been having trouble with this also for my clients.

One thing to think about... if the Contemporary is booked solid for that time frame... chances are that the other resorts are getting busy as well... and if memory serves me right, that's about the time that things start to pick up. So, if Empty is what you're looking for... the week prior is more along those lines. Certainly the week after (that of V-Day) will be the start of Spring Break season.

Just keep calling for those dates, but keep your Poly. res. It took me three calls to get my dates and my FL res discount. We're staying in the tower, which is about as much $$ as your Poly concierge. hmmm...

So don't give up. Res. are always changing. good luck
