Has there been any drawn out plan of the Contemporary DVC Tower construction? And if so, where can I find them?

apparently it is, i still cant get over how ugly and plain looking it is tho, especially when its standing right next to the contemporary, i dont see why they had to place it there, they have so much more land surrounding the magic kingodm that they couldve built on that couldve probably given even better views of the park too, i just think it just kills the whole look of the contemporary and distracts from its natural beauty

Could this be placed where it is to "cover up" the view of an outside company's 15 story hotel (being built near Epcot) from the Park?
The curved aspect of the new building will also give more "MK Views" to 3/4ths of the rooms on the outside of the building.

I was at WDW all last week and stopped in at the Contemporary to take a look at all the changes (since my last trip in 1993). I asked a monorail driver about what is going up "over there" and he said although no official announcement yet, the new addition will have 12-14 stories.

Take it for what it's worth. It's just weird seeing a larger structure being erected in that spot.

i'm pretty sure if it is official it would look photoshopped

I realize they had to create a picture since it isn't built yet, but it doesn't look professional as other Disney creations.

Also, this is the first time I've ever seen Disney create a virtual recreation on an actual photo instead of having it plain concept art, so it makes me wonder.

(Not singling you our Darth, just responding to the last posting on similar topic.) The design was not done by Disney, but an outside architectural firm. The artist renditions we see from Disney are typically from imagineering who was not involved in the design of this project to my knowledge.

The photo posted looks like a typical software rendering from a 3D app like Autodesk Architectural Desktop that most firms would use in such designs. They most likely matched the camera angles, rendered it and applied it. Seems perfectly acceptable to me.

I noticed numerous postings with others saying the same thing your are, so you aren't alone in that view. I'm posting my opinion as it's from the other perspective and for the record, I am not opinion bashing, just sharing mine.

The new tower is modern "contemporary", the original structure is old "contemporary". Though to me the original contemporary A-frame is classic WDW and will always represent that, I find it ugly as it's is not at all contemporary and lacks any reference to modern architecture. The whole problem with the style "contemporary" is that sooner or later it is classified as "dated". The new tower is, IMHO, contemporary in design and fits in well with the original structure on that basis. It would have been a terrible shame for Disney to have built another A-frame to match the look and feel of the original when that has no style or flair other than the current remodeling being done.

That said, I'm not completely welcoming the new building either. There are 2 issues I have with the new building. First, as a DVC owner at Wilderness Lodge, the lake view will be ruined with a large structure in the midst unless Disney is planning a lot more replanting to mask it. Second, the new structure is slightly closer to MK which presents viewing issues from both MK (of the new tower) and from the new tower (of backstage MK). Seems like it will, as many have pointed out, tarnish a little of the magic of the Kingdom.

Well, if that is the case, then I guess that makes sense. I wasn't saying that it was impossible that it was official. But I knew there was something different to it where it didn't look like it directly came from Disney.

Does this mean the monorail stop at the Contemporary will be more crowded, or will more people just walk or roll? Will transportation be able to deal with this?

I'm sure Disney will be able to handle this. Remember, the DVC rooms replaced some of the hotel rooms, so that cancels some of them out. Plus not everyone goes to the Magic Kingdom on any given day. Plus chances are that seasoned Vaction Club members will take advantage of other things during their vacations than just going to the theme parks. So, I think everything will be fine.:)

If that is in fact the "new" dvc structure, it is so ugly and does not mesh well with the "old" contemporary tower. It's looks like it belongs in Miami.

I agree with others - it will certainly ruin Bay Lake and any views from the WL. I am all for a Contemporary DVC but not the one pictured.
