Contemporarliy Confused

Just booked two nights at the contemporary resort for the last weekend of food and wine(first time on property) I'm so freaking excited, or at least I was. While trying to find more pics of the resort to drool over I came across quite a few reviews saying its dirty and rundown. Are these people crazy? Or should I prepare to be dissapointed? Thanks in advance!

No worries. The vast majority of the time, it's the negative stuff people bother to write about. I've stayed there countless times and it's always been amazing. I'll actually be leaving for the contemporary again next Thursday morning.

You're going to be just fine. If for some unkown reason I'm wrong and it's "dirty and\or rundown" complain LOUDLY. They will take care of you.

It's my brother's favorite resort they (he and his family) stayed in 2010 and 2011 and had nothing but good things to say.

Hey! The resort is ok.It's got the " Wave " and Cali Grill.The only thing I thought was it's not Disney themed but I wouldn't knock it back.

The lobby, monorail and common areas in general are not the most interesting and enticing places. There is the mural, of course. I wouldn't say "dirty and rundown" so much as "boring and dated." But many people love the CR. It is a matter of preference, really.

The rooms, IMO, are boring and blah...but much better than the hideous ones back before the remodel. Mine was neither dirty or rundown. It's been almost two years since I was in a room there, though.

If you checked out the pics online and you still want to stay there, you should!

I wouldn't worry about it. You'll be happy that you kept your reservation. I tend to think that the people writing bad reviews either had an unfortunate/rare occurance or are just uber nit picky. Heres some pics too look forward to. From my MK view room last Sept/Oct. Have a great stay and if you think of it bring this thread back and give us YOUR review.

I see absolutely nothing wrong w/ the Contemporary! It's a nice & convenient place to stay! Don't listen to those negative reviews! If you have ANY problems, you just let the CMs know, and they will take care of it!

We stayed there last summer and the room/resort quality we experienced is on par with the photos posted by Foolish Mortal. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend the resort. Have a great trip!!!

As you can see by the pictures, it does look more like a Hyatt or other national chain once you are in the room. Yes, the building is the oldest on the property and for that reason there will be some visible wear and tear. We have stayed at the CR more than any other resort on property. You should have a marvelous stay. If not, call the front desk and complain. Just be prepared for the call to be answered by a call center, not the front desk.

Thanks for the photos and all the other input? I really love the decor in the photos above on disneys site they show two pics of the rooms each with different decor. What's that about? I like the decor in the photos above the best for sure but I'm sure I'll be happy either way.

i never understand why people go on about the contemporary lacking "theming." the "theme" is contemporary, and it's done just as well as any of the other resorts. the other themes are perhaps more exotic/foreign/different, but the objective was certainly met.

i also hear it's not very "disney." i can't comment on the values or mods, but there's no more or less "disney" at the other deluxes. poly, grand, wilderness, etc... they're not dripping with mickey heads, either.

The Contemporary has some of the niceste rooms on the property, especially since the recent refurb (which made the rooms actually look contemporary and modern).

Never let negative reviews ruin your excitement! You're excited for a reason, and you gotta hold onto that. It'll be an amazing trip! Everyone has different experiences. I've never stayed at The Contemporary, but I've visited to eat many times and I've never found it to be dirty. It has some pretty cool hidden Mickey's, and the best view of WDW from Cali Grill. What could be better than walking to MK in just minutes too? It'll be awesome ~ have fun!
