Contemp pool?

What do you think of the contemp. pool? We are thinking of staying there for convenience purposes and it'll be in September so we need a decent pool. Are the AKL and WL pools vastly superior? TIA!
I have never stayed at the WL but I have stayed at both the CR and theAKL and I like CR's pool a lot better and it has a pretty good slide:wave:

I really like the pool at the WL, it's pretty big and it has the babbling brook flowing into it, so it's kind of fun to try and swim against the current. The music is also very relaxing. It's surrounded by the resort, with the lake off in the distance and with the tall towering trees, you really feel like you're in the wilderness!
The pool at the Contemporary doesn't seem as exciting to me. It's a pretty boring design, but then again it IS at the Contemporary! It is also right off the lake, so it has a pretty view of the lake, I suppose. I've never stayed there but my husband has many times - and of course has many good childhood memories of swimming in that pool.
I prefer the WL pool but I would love to stay at the Contemporary sometime, too. Although, I can't imagine taking the elevator ride down to the pool (in your swimsuit) is much fun with all the conventioneers in there with you, in their suits/ties!!

This strikes fear in the heart of stretch marks worldwide!!! But, I can't let it keep me away lol.. I'd like to try them both, eventually.
The reason we were going to stay in CR is because it's cheaper than the Poly, but we could monorail to the Poly easily to get good coffee. Sad but true.. so many places on Disney property have Nescafe and we were totally grossed out by it last time.
I hear Jiko has African coffee so AKL is another front contender right now, but is it worth it if you don't do Savannah view? Is Savannah view worth it?
Don't get me wrong... we're not basing our decision totally on coffee, but we don't have a strong preference right now, so we're researching all we can!

It's basic with a medium slide.
Just about every other resort (minus value resorts) have better pools.
ALK pool is cool, but the best pool is Yacht and Beach Club.

I've never stayed at WL but I hear great things about their pool. I've stayed at Contemp. & AKL and I like both of their pools. They aren't very deep but I don't think any Disney pool is. Maybe 4'9 or 4'11. If you have a young child trying to learn to swim I'd go to AKL because of their beach-entry pool. My brother loves swimming but wouldn't take off his water wings, but when we went there last summer he was swimming w/o them due to the beach entry. Now he's wing-free! Have a good trip!

nope even the value resorts have better pools! the pool at cr seems cold looking and its always windy there as it comes straight of the lake.the vaul pools are great fun! piano shape,guitar shape,surfs up! fantasia pool, all well themed and great fun,plus you feel comfortable there as early poster said no one is there on business! so everyones relaxed and the kids can have fun

Even though the pool at the CR isn't GREAT, I would still recommend staying there. Especially if you have a little one, the proximity to the magic kingdom and other resorts is wonderful. You're also one monorail stop away from the Ticket & Transportation Center, where you can switch monorails and head over to Epcot. The view of the fireworks from the hotel is awesome and chef mickey's is always fun. California Grill is always nice (although the service has been lacking IMHO). No matter where you stay you'll have a great time! :wave:

The pool at the Contemporary is actually my favourite pool. Yeah, it's pretty much un-themed and has only a mediocre slide, but I really like it. They also have a smaller pool right on the beach/lake which is nice to relax in (most of the kids stay at the bigger pool). The Contemporary is my favourite resort overall. You just can't beat the view or the convenience of walking back to the hotel from the MK when everyone else is waiting for another form of transportation. You're also only a monorail stop or two away from the Poly, GF, MK, TTC, and Epcot, and only a boat ride away from the WL and FW. You just can't beat the Contemporary in terms of convenience.

Well, I guess I will continue thinking about it before I make a reservation (although last trip I must've changed it 10 times), and see if my husband has a preference although last night he said "let's just stay in pop the whole time" so I can tell he's thinking of the money and the fact that last trip was so short, we were never in our room... LOL, but once we're there, I think we will much appreciate the upgrade!
