Construction from Michigan?

Hi all...

We're driving to Disney -- straight through I hope -- from Michigan on Friday (April 21)... I know, not the most ideal set-up, especially with two kids, however, this will have to do this time.

Anyway, anyone along the route know of any construction holdups to be aware of...

Possible routes include -- 75 all the way... or 65 to Nashville, to 24 and ultimately 75 at Chatanooga...

Have done both in the past, and remarkably, the timing is about the same... as long as we avoid any construction...

Any help is appreciated.. the thread on how to keep two toddlers from crying for 20 hours will come next.

Right now, the jaunt from Indianapolis through to Atlanta is fairly clear (until you hit Atlanta, of course). I would suggest the 65 route. It tends to be a bit faster than going all the way to 75. I am originally from South Bend, IN, and made that trip annually. Now, I'm in Nashville and just made the jaunt to Atlanta a week and a half ago.

Don't go all out of the way! Take 75 all the way down to the Turnpike! Save yourself the hassle of going out of the way. It's a straight shot. Easy. Even with summer construction, we still make good time. It's really not that bad.

Leave EARLY. Ohio is the worst, and it's best to get it over with early in the day when everyone is at work. We usually hit the Ohio/Kentucky border at rush hour when we leave Detroit at around 10am... so I would suggest leaving earlier than that. Like around 7am or 8am. Tennessee and Georgia through the night, even with MASSIVE construction is bearable and seemingly nonexistant in the middle of the night.

No matter what you do, you will end up somewhere with construction and a rush hour. Take the straight shot and save yourself the hassle of adding insult to injury and having to really pay attention to road signs.

Follow 75 down...

I would definitely take 75 all the way. It seems like the straightest shot. You may want to try aaa.com to see traffic updates--we check it every time we go on a trip outside of our area.
