Does anyone think since SSR is sold out(or almost) that WDW is closing PI now, so it would not effect sales of the resort?

While it is possible I think the real reasons are that Disney knows they can make more money have restaurants and more shopping.

While the timing of the two events would lend credence to such a conspiracy theory I doubt the two are related. I really do not think that PI would have drawn me or many others to buy or not buy at SSR. I also do not think that PI was really a draw for WDW rather more like a bonus.....kind of like the pretzel bread at Le Cellier. You don't go there just for that but having it makes the place a little more appealing. In truth I think the masses would have found the prospect of removing the nightclubs and replacing them with shops and restaurants more appealing. If anything PI closure announcement could be used as incentive to move the few remaining units. Kind of a " Five new restaurants are going up right next door to you! You will have more dinning and shopping options than any other WDW resort!" sales angle.

The thought has crossed my mind. I remember visiting in the 80's and staying at the Club villas or whatever the old SSR units were called back then. There was really nothing to do except head over to the Empress Lily (or head off-property) and while we had a great time, we would have been wild about having the PI clubs back then. Now, the restaurants and shopping would be more of a draw for us! Life marches on! :ROFLOL:
