Connection Prob with D-C?

I recently got a new computer and have been experiencing a problem with
#Disney-Central that I never had before...
When I am in a queue requesting multiple mp3's, I always receive the first one fine, but my connection always fails for the subsequent ones.

Am I doing something wrong? :brick:

Thanks for any advice!

I had the same problem in queue for Dr. Nigel. I found if you let somebody else queue between your requests, the subsequent files will load.

Recently I had a hard drive crash  and had to set up MIRC on a different computer. I no longer have this same problem, so I'm not sure why my other computer would limit Nigel's files. (All of the settings are the same.) I never had any problem with anybody else though. Strange.

Howdy!

Nigel here, not sure what the problem could be, as I've seen it happen numberous times to other users. Unfortunately, I haven't noticed any sort of pattern that might help determine the cause. I'll continue double-checking my settings to make sure everything is in tip-top shape.

Nigel! Aside from the fact that I can only queue for one file at a time, I LOVE
your stuff! Thanks for sharing the music! :sohappy:

:D

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying my collection. I started downloading several years ago, and decided it was time to give something back, so I figured out how to share and, voila!

I agree, IRC isn't the easiest thing in the world to use, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy as pie!

Nigel! Perhaps you can help me with this. I am itching to get the Pizzafari area music from you, but I keep getting queued. I know that means that I will have to wait to get my download, which is fine. What I am not sure on, is do I have to be connected to your server thing at !nigel_themeparks, or do I just have to be connected to #disney-central, for the download to start. The server connection closes after thirty seconds when you're not doing anything. I'm using Snak on Mac OS X, if that matters.

As long as you're connected to the #Disney-Central channel, you're ok -- you don't have to be connected to my trigger in order for you download to start.

Just connect to a trigger, get your queues lined up, then close your connection to that trigger and you're all set - just make sure you stay connected to #D-C!

Dr_Nigel_C - You are a legend imho!

You have some amazing stuff there, first class!!

I have been using DC for a few days now, but other than !list and then double-clicking on selected tracks, I am rather unsure what to do.

What other commands are available, and am I supposed to send you stuff in return (although I have nothing that you don't have already!)

I don't want to be cheeky, I am new to all of this (I bet you have heard this a thousand times already!) so I am unsure of the rules and regs of such a set up.

Ps I am only on dial up at the moment, so I am limiting myself to small downloads (under 6meg), I believe that is the same as someone on Broadband (that is what we call it in the UK) downloading a massive file. I wouldn't want to annoy the broadband users by taking hours to download the big stuff.

I will be soon changing over to broadband myself... Will I be able to carry on using the DC without changing any of my settings.

Thanks for your help, you are providing an amazing service :) :animwink: :sohappy:

you have the option to open a server yourself that would help a lot

or if you want to send signle files use the dcc send option in your irc program ... for dteails ..try to ask in the channel

Howdy, PBarton -- glad to hear you're having at least some luck over at #D-C. Glad that I could be of some help. There are, as you are no doubt probably already aware, lots of other folks with great collections in the channel.

Check out http://www.ircmadeasy.com/ If I'm not mistaken, there are some FAQs available that cover some of the basics.

You do not have to send any files in return, but if you think you have anything at all that I don't already have, feel free to send it. Click "Tools" from the menubar, then "Send File"!
