I ran across this good article on the Wonder Wheel, which is not only a Coney Island landmark, but was the inspiration for Mickey's Fun Wheel at DCA. The article talk about the history of the wheel and the efforts to bring it back to life after superstorm Sandy. I have always been proud of the fact that my family was a part of the history, since me Uncle owned the wheel for many years. I remember riding the wheel when I was young, I did the swinging cars once and will never do them again!

Wow. That's a fascinating story, and thank you for sharing it with everyone. Not everyone has such a fun piece of history in their family's background! :)

Alas, I've never ridden on the Wonder Wheel; I went to Coney Island only once with my parents was I was about 7 years old. My mother was afraid of heights, so anything like a huge ferris wheel like that one, was out of the question for us! ;)
