Trip Report *completed* The 100 Cute WDW Trip report

Hello Everyone! we just came back from the Disney bubble, and I wanted to share our trip with everyone. I recently posted my Pre-Trip Report , but I'll reintroduce our cast here:

MIL aka Mom
The Husband aka Hubby
Ms. Sunshine aka Me ;)
and 4 year ZuZu (First timer and 100 cute).

You will soon see why I named this trip "100 Cute". We spent 5 days, 4 nights at AKL and it was a well needed vacation for everyone. I even snuck out of work an hour early so that we can hit the highway a little earlier, which I don't regret one bit. :p Even though where we live it's only a 2 1/2 hour drive, we still got there kinda late in the evening, and that extra hour meant the difference between 8pm and 9pm, which when you have a 4 year old can mean the difference between cute and obnoxious. When we finally arrived, I got that warm tingly feeling when the cast members said "Welcome Home".:inlove: We were so excited to get our trip started, I was counting down the miles on the GPS (31 miles. 24 miles. 10 miles. Hubby was not amused.:happy:) I had already did online check in, but I still went up to the desk and we were given a map of the resort with our room number. The drums were playing in the lobby. It was awesome. We found our room and tapped all of our magic bands to the door to make sure they worked, dropped our bags and went to the balcony to see this:
20160713_203136.jpg

That view was the absolute saddest thing ever. I swear every time I looked out there a fairy lost its wings. Now, I get it. We booked an standard room. We were going to Animal Kingdom to see animals. We didn't need to see them outside our window. But come on, cant you guys at least give me something to look at, like a potted plant or something?o_O:facepalm:
Hubby and I went to check out the pool and find the smoking area, saw they were playing the lion king, but we were too tired to venture out by now and we're just waiting for the food to arrive from room service. Wifi was also non existent, we just couldn't pick up the signal, but you don't come for wifi right? You come for the beautiful view.:p. First impressions: resort is beautiful, so much to look at, if you can make it out, because it's very dim lighting. My husband has some sight issues; he jokes that I'm his "seeing eye wife" , but he really needed to hold my hand in this place, especially while we were outside by the pool at night.
When our room service arrived we were starving, Zuzu ran up to the cast member and gave her a hug! She must've been just as hungry, she doesn't even greet family like that!:hilarious: The woman was just as surprised, I'm sure she doesn't get greeted like that very often. Now, Zuzu is very witty, as most 4 year olds are, and she knows that 100 is a big number. So she uses it as a unit of measurement to describe things(ex: Mommy, that rock is so big. Like 100 big:happy:). Hence the title of my report. So here's a summary of our arrival day:

Room Service Hug: 100 Cute.
Standard room view: 30 Cute.
Animal Kingdom Lodge Lobby: 100 Cute.

We ate, showered and went straight to bed, because the next day was Magic Kingdom.

Day 1: Magic Kingdom

We got up bright eyed and busy tailed, ready to hit MK for our ADR breakfast at Crystal Palace. We got our park bags ready, headed down stairs to the buses just as it was getting ready to leave. When we got to Animal Kingdom we realized we had gotten on the wrong bus! We quickly walked across the street and waited to take the magic kingdom bus, and we were on our way! I was anxious about making our reservation for Crystal Palace, but even with us picking up our tickets at Will Call and going through bag check, we made it only about ten minutes late. I won't have many food pictures on this report, for two reasons: one- I always feel weird taking pictures of my food, even in the age of social media, and two: I'm usually so hungry that pictures are the farthest thing from my mind:hilarious::arghh:. But breakfast was very good. Two items that stood out for us: the carrot muffins( hubby said it was from Rabbit's garden), and the puffed french toast. Omg the French toast! The sausage was pretty good too. Zuzu had mickey waffles, Mom had some pastries, she and Hubby were raving about this cinnamon roll thingy.

On the right bus this time.

That puffed french toast looks weird, but its soooo good.:inlove:

DSCN0175.JPG

All the characters were great, but Tigger was the best imho, he had the most fun with Zuzu, Eeyore coming in a close second. Piglet spent like 2 seconds with her, he didn't even sign her book. :arghh: While we were eating one of the cast members started up a conversation with Mom about where we were from (I think our New York accents gave us away). They chatted about cruises and the Panama Canal (where Mom is from). They exchanged information, since the woman was planning a trip there soon. Afterwards, we headed towards the Haunted Mansion, where for about 10 minutes I felt like the worse mom ever.:banghead:

Yeah, we were one of those parents with a scared crying kid on haunted mansion, but in my defense we watched it on YouTube and I really thought she was up for it. She was totally game until the stretching room, and we couldn't really turn back afterwards could we? And I had forgotten how intense the sounds can be, I hadn't been since 2010. Mom wouldn't even get on, so I should've known it wasn't a good idea. So, yeah, bad mommy.:( I mentally put myself in the corner on that one. But it didn't ruin the day, and it's actually lucky it was the first ride, because she had tons more fun the rest of the day.

We kept moving, stopped at the Rapunzel bathrooms and got on Small World while waiting for our Peter Pan fast pass. Fast Passes are great. And the fact that we had the stroller with us gave Zuzu the energy she needed to stand in line when we had to park it, so give it up for umbrella strollers! It was soooo hot, and we live in south florida, but this was Disney Hot. Which is like, 100 hot, according to the Zuzu scale of measurement. We really tried to stay hydrated, Hubby even got one of those spritzing fans for Zuzu. Here is a recap of the attractions we visited:
Small World: 100 Cute.
Peter Pan: 100 Cute (Though the cannon sounds put Zuzu on edge. she has a thing about loud noises, which I will get to later).

We stopped for a shady spot to enjoy a Mickey bar (not much of a chocolate person, but the ice cream was nice in the heat).

For some reason all my Small World pictures are blurry, even though I had my motion setting turned on.:banghead: At least you'll be able to see what Small World looks like through a drunk persons eyes :hilarious:.

After taking a shade break we headed over to The little Mermaid. This ride was fun! I'm biased cause I love The Little Mermaid ( I even had the Hans Christen Anderson story on tape when I was little, which, now that I'm an adult, I am questioning my mother's judgment. That one does not end well.):cautious: But I sang along with all the songs and everything! Afterwards we saw that the Meet and Greet line wasn't very long, so we got in that line to get her autograph. I got Zuzu a spiral sketchbook and a set of Gold, Silver and Copper colored Sharpies. I got some foam paper and cut out some mickey heads in different colors and stuck them on the cover.
IMG_0573.JPG

I also found some clip art online and made a label for the inside, just incase it got lost. Yeah, I'm pretty crafty.:D:cool:
IMG_0572.JPG

Ariel was awesome! Zuzu got a kick out of being called a "little guppy". She's still gushing about it.:inlove:
We even bought an Ariel picture frame at the gift shop to put a picture of the two of them in.
DSCN0212.jpg

We'll be framing the "professional" version of this picture.:p

Then we headed over to Dumbo, which Mom and Zuzu got on while the 'rents took a shade and water break. (also I have a thing with heights:facepalm:). Ride recap:
Dumbo: 100 Cute
Mad Tea Party: 100 Cute (the ride kept making this loud banging noise everytime it stopped that kept making Zuzu jump. Also advised Hubby not to spin to much in consideration for his Mom. She said she didn't mind and blew my cover.):p

We headed over to Buzz Lightyear, and stopped for some frozen lemonade and some Ears before our fast pass.
Note to self: beware of ears purchased on etsy. Ours were beautiful. But the hot glue used was no match for the Florida sun. And the ears melted off. So after spending 50 bucks on ears I have to glue them back on myself. They'll make pretty souvenirs I guess. But we needed them sewn on. So Mom got Zuzu an ear hat, and Hubby got a donald hat that I knew he was not going to wear, but he loves donald, so I let him be.

My super concentrated face.:hilarious::rolleyes:

We were kind of all over the place, mainly because I took whatever fast passes I could get and build my day around them.
We didn't eat many snacks sadly, but we didn't want to feel sluggish and we had an early dinner. Definitely missed out on some major snacking opportunity.
Once that was done we headed back to Main Street to get a good spot for the parade.

Nice report so far. I can understand your frustration with the small world pictures, when I have the motion setting on it turns out blurry too. Auto works best for some reason. Go figure!:)

Thanks ! I'll keep that in mind for next time. Hubby was about to get me a new camera, but I'm sure if I mess with settings It'll be fine. Thanks for following along!:)

Great start! That stinks about the ears. I have a couple of pair from Etsy and haven't had trouble with them, but I have only worn them in January and March so far...I guess I'll see how they hold up in October!

Looking forward to reading more!

AKL is gorgeous. I wish you had a better view from your balcony; however, one of the nice things about AKL are all the lookout spots in the hallways, up on the guest room floors, as well as the walking areas outside the lodge. (AKL also has one of my favorite quick service restaurants--The Mara.) Looking forward to reading more of your trip report. :)

We found a spot on main street to watch the parade and got a few cups of ice water and gatorade. I had forgotten to bring a blanket for the ground that apparently was made from lava because it was so freakishly hot out. Like 100 hot. :p Luckily hubby had gotten one of those water sprinting fans because I also forgot to pick one up from the dollar store. We ended up sitting on our backpacks, and of course Zuzu had the stroller. Was it worth melting in the hot sun? When the characters paid special attention to my kid, I'll say most definitely. Princess Tiana blew her a kiss, Pluto actually tried to get her attention, it was awesome.

After being reduced to puddles of sweat at the parade, it was time to make our way back over to BOG for our reservation. We had dinner in the ballroom, the snow on the windows was so pretty.
BOG was great, imho. I know it's hit and miss for some, but we had no complaints. In fact, we were comparing every other meal we had to BOG for the rest of the trip. I had the pan seared chicken, tasted very light, mom had salmon, mentioned she would have cooked it a little longer, hubby has skirt steak with these awesome fries that he remarked tasted very " French " :hilarious:o_O, he also had the salad with the champagne vinaigrette that was awesome, sadly no pictures made it due to reasons stated above(too hungry to remember I had a camera). That French onion soup was to die for! It was cheesy and oniony and delicious. We shared a strawberry cupcake (also delicious) and the lemon meringue cupcake ( which I didn't taste but hubby and mom enjoyed.)

Then Beast strolled through the Ballroom to get set up for the meet and greet, and we got our picture taken on our way out. I wanted him to sign Zuzu's book, but the cast member said he doesn't sign because of his nails:(. She told us he might have a stamp, but I didn't want to make a big deal of it. He's so tall!:inlove::p.

After BOG I had no plans for the evening, so we let ZuZu dictate the pace from that point. She went on the merry go round, did a Tirana/Rapunzel meet and greet (which was awesome), hubby asked Rapunzel about having a smolder contest and she really thought it was funny!:hilarious: He asked Tiana where Ray was, but I think he threw Tiana off her game, she didn't know how to answer. They were wonderful and the shortest line too. We stopped for frozen lemonade (again). Then we realized the electric parade was starting and started making our way towards the front of the castle.

Just a side note: We were not able to get fast passes for 7DMT (or Frozen Forever), I checked each and every day up until the day we were actually there. Zuzu really wanted to ride 7DMT, and I did too, but the wait was an hour and at that point in the day, post dinner, I just couldn't deal with the wait time, so we did Pooh instead, which she thought was 100 cute. :D

DSCN0288.JPG

Loved the interactive Queue!

DSCN0289.jpg

DSCN0290.jpg

She was a little confused at the whole psychedelic dream part of the ride, but I told her Pooh had too much honey before bed and had a bad dream.:p:rolleyes:.

So the Electric parade was 100 awesome. She loved it. And yes, we were one of those parents with the kid on the shoulders that everyone hates:banghead:. I tried to get hubby not to hoist her up, but I was overruled on that one. Sadly, we did not stay for wishes, because she has this thing about loud noise. ( she would literally drop whatever she was holding to cover her ears. She dropped her juice cup twice.) I wanted to get her ear plugs, but it was one of the many last minute things I had forgotten to do.
There's a small fireworks display in the morning friendship faire show, and that was just enough for her. The videos of fireworks do not do them justice, of course. So when she heard the booms in real life it startled her. (me too, but I'm more excited than scared:joyfull:) So I didn't want to subject her to any more of it at Wishes. I had done enough with Haunted Mansion:rolleyes:. This is a little TMI, but during the Electric Parade someone kept passing gas.:grumpy: So I turn to my husband and said, eww somebody's really tooting it up over here. Well I guess ZuZu overheard (the girl's got ears like a bat), because she says "it was me":hungover:. LOL. Hubby said that his neck now smelled like butt, but I say that what's he gets for potentially ruining someone's view of the parade.:p

DSCN0311.JPG

DSCN0329.JPG

Sorry about the blurry pictures:banghead:
DSCN0334.JPG

DSCN0335.JPG

So after the parade we headed out of the park, picking up a first visit button and a penny press book on the way out. Before we knew it the day was done, and let me say that my kid is a real trooper. We got up for a 9 o clock breakfast, changed buses, and she kept up the pace the entire time( the stroller helped a lot). Waited on lines patiently, didn't run off. Of course we had given her the talk about being a good listener and staying together with her family, holding a grown ups hand, etc., but she didn't need a nap, she didn't complain about the sun, didn't cry when she said she couldn't have something. Even though she was tired on the bus ride back, when we got back to the room she had a bath and even stayed up with us to nibble on some fries and crackers before finally going to sleep. She rocked.

I really ran everyone ragged this day. That night, every time someone woke up to turn over I got this dirty sleepy face look:facepalm: LOL. But in the end they appreciated my planning, and the other two days were somewhat more lax. Oh well, they love me, and besides, I'm the one with the maps, LOL.

Day 2: Epcot.

We decided to sleep in a little on Epcot day, since I had run the family ragged on MK day. We were up and ready to go at about 9:00am, and went down to The Mara for breakfast. Now, I know it's a favorite for folks, but this place just frustrated me. Why, you ask? Well, I had never eaten there before, and I didn't know what to get from where. Everyone's going back and forth, doing whatever it is they do, and you're kinda just in the way. It took me like 5 minutes just to find where the hot water for the tea was. :banghead:That aside, the food was pretty good.

DSCN0349.JPG

DSCN0350.JPG

Loved the mickey waffles.:inlove:

We ate and made our way down to the buses, the right buses this time:p. Only this time hubby realizes he's lost his glasses. His brand new prescription Ray Bans that he can't see without. So he and mom go back to the Mara to track them down. Lucky someone turned him in. But this means we've missed the bus. So Zuzu and I waited and took selfies while they looked, and by the time they came back another bus had come. A bus ride, bag check and some photopass pictures later, we were deciding what to do before our Finding Nemo fast pass. So we went in the cool zone, or as I like to call it, Coca Cola Zone. I pointed out the sodas from different countries, and we began tasting and making pleasant conversation about foreign sodas went I hear this awful coughing noise. I turn around, and lo and behold, it's my Hubby, and I forgot to warn him about the Beverly!:hilarious: And he's trying all these sodas to get the taste of Beverly out of his mouth, and it was hysterical. He bought a water after all of that drama, and he's warning the cast members " do not drink the Beverly, it's a trick. Some kind of cruel joke". I couldn't stop laughing! Neither could anyone else. :D

Ok, so off to Nemo we go. We tap our bands, and the cast member says, uh oh, looks like Zoe's fast pass isn't working. I'm disappointed, ZuZu is confused, and hubby is annoyed. Turns out the cast member was kidding, but hubby was not amused. Don't play with my daughter's emotions, he says (after we had gone inside, of course). Luckily she had no idea what went on anyway. The queue that leads inside is so dark, we had to practically hold hands to make it through. Zuzu loved it, although the shark bit shook her up a little. Bruce's voice it very deep, and creepy, so I get it. Afterwards we went to check out the aquarium tanks and see all the live fish from the movie. It was very cool, we got to see the clown fish, eels, all kinds of interesting stuff. Then we made our way to Turtle Talk.
We went inside to wait for the next show when a tour group rolled through and proceeded to be very annoying. :mad:They were a young columbian group, no older than maybe 14 or 15 year old girls. A group of girls that had pushed their way to the front of the room were now swishing their hair all over Mom's arm and being obnoxious, climbing up on the edges of the fish tanks when the cast members specifically asked them not to. Now, Mom is a no nonsense teacher. And this group made her forget she was on vacation, and she went full out school teacher mode. And of course they didn't know that Mom native language is Spanish. So she turned and said to them in Spanish, " I'm sure that whoever you came with taught you how to behave in public. You should know better than to do what you're doing." Damnnnnnn! They got quiet so fast, and she didn't hear another obnoxious peep outta them.:hilarious:

The show was great, I really love these interactive shows like this one and the laugh floor. Somebody's kid asked Crush if he drinks Bud Light. :hilarious: Too funny! After that we made our way over to Askerhus for our princess lunch. On the way we saw Pluto, with a short line, so we got a quick picture, autograph and continued on.
EPCOT_WRLDSHOW_20160715_7745093752.jpeg

We passed the three caballeros, but sadly didn't have time. In hindsight we could have doubled back after our Frozen meet and greet. I'm kinda sad that I didn't think about it at the time.:( We made it to lunch and went in. This was, imho the best character meal we had thus far. All the princesses were beautiful and sweet. We got some awesome pics with all of them. The fam wasn't too impressed with the meal, ( it was good, but not amazing, BOG made my hubby a new fan) but to them the character interaction was worth the price tag and the food.
DSCN0356.JPG

20160715_181641.jpg

I actually got Jasmine to sign a Lithograph that I received from the Disney Movie Club when I ordered Aladdin. I'm glad I remembered to bring it!
DSCN0359.JPG

This was the one meal that Zuzu actually managed to completely finish (and she was pretty much getting mac and cheese at every meal). I guess she was super hungry this day!
We made our way over the frozen meet and greet, which was also great. Although ZuZu would stop tugging her shorts when she met Elsa, she was a little shy I guess, but she loved it. Anna loved Zuzu's Elsa ball cap, but it was getting in the way of some photos.

I'm loving this report from my phone, so I'll be back to quote and make lots of comments.

Zuzu is adorable, and I love the photo of her and Ariel. Hubby looks like such a tough guy in his Donald hat!! ;). And total respect for Mom schooling that tour group!!

Where in NY are you from? I grew up in The Bronx and now live in Westchester.

Hubby is a sucker for Donald! Thanks for following along:happy:

Once we were done with the Elsa Meet and Greet, we walked over to China (we were told Mulan would be there). I tried to find the character area on my Disney App, but couldn't find it, so we just explored the shops a bit.

I loved this area, but we didn't spend too much time here. We got a pressed penny with Mulan on it (since we couldn't find her), Mom bought herself a new wind chime for her kitchen, and we picked up a few other souvenirs. We didn't have any plans for the day, so we just walked the different countries, stopping to get Zuzu's face painted and getting a peach iced tea in Italy. (Again, it was soooo hot. Like 100 Hot. ) We stopped again when we got to Japan to check out the shops there. And Hubby. Went. Bonkers.. He is a huge Dragon Ball Z fan, and they had it all in this shop. He would not stop picking things up, we had to have his purchases sent to the resort.:hilarious: I had gone over to the Hello Kitty side with Zuzu to look at the stationary and pick out a water bottle for her, and when I looked over at him, he literally could not fit any more merchandise in his arms. LOL:hilarious::rolleyes:. It was time for an intervention at this point.
DSCN0398.JPG
DSCN0399.JPG

We sat here for a bit before moving on. as we passed through Morocco we had just missed the belly dancer:oops:. We didn't spend any time in most of the countries other than admiring the buildings. And since Zuzu had met so many princesses at lunch we didn't feel the need to stop at any other meet and greets along the way.(we saw Belle with a line forming nearby). Eventually was found our way to Britain. (Mom went into a shop to check out some tea.)
DSCN0402.jpg

We stopped at Canada to get some ice water and I got a cronut. It was good, but left in the fryer a little too long.

Your husband and my husband would get along well! We both love Japanese culture, but he is a huge Dragon Ball Z fan. He watches it all the time...it just sounds like a bunch of grunting to me.
