Ok "Popeye" and "Dudley Dooright" and "Jurasic" ...vs "Splash" and "Kali Rapids" ...I am HUGE DISNEY FAN but USF water Rides blow away Disneys especially in SOAK FACTOR....There are times I go on Splash and barely get wet yet when we go on Popeye or Dudley especially you get SOAKED EVERY time! Even comparing Jurasic and Splash Jurasic is wetter.....now that beig said, Disneys themeing is awsum and that could help Disney being the more attractive yet all 3 at usf are themed good too...soooooo IMHO I would take USF's because of SOAK FACTOR...they are a blast!

I totally agree. While none of Universal's water rides can hold a candle to the charm and theming of Splash Mountain, their ride mechanisms themselves are head and shoulders better than Disney's. The first time I saw Ripsaw Falls I was just blown away by the size and length of that final drop, and the sheer amount of moving water is incredible. I would love to know how much money Universal spends each day running the pumps to cycle that much H20.

Bilge Rat Barges is superior to Kali River Rapids in every way, and is probably the most ambitious tube rapids attraction I've seen. Of course, it doesn't take much to beat Kali in my book. That thing's a real disappointment.

Jurassic Park is cool, but the dinosaur animatronics, save for the final Rex are all a little too simple and could use some additional articulation and more speed. The drop is pretty cool though, and it's a neat combination of Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean and Splash.

I really wish they made Jurrasic MORE. They have the opportunity for a BIG TIME ride. Dark ride with more story, longer, and of course keeping the big finish at the end would be good. It almost seems like they rushed it open. Wish they'd refurb and add on to it.

Bluto's Barge's is by far the best rapid ride I've ever been on. Kali is short and kind of boring...though it is nice at night. Ripsaw Falls is really cute too, but it's no Splash Mountain. My favorite part of the ride is being able to shoot water at people from above. Jurassic Park is sub-par if you ask me. Kinda boring.

Ever done it at night... in the rain... when you're the last two guests through the attraction?
It's a bit more exciting then.

Here's a cool video. At least watch starting at 3:35

I remember one summer my daughter and I went to universal for few days from up north and we went on Popeye's bout 5-6 times. We had more laughs with the people on the ride , it was so much fun...you get to laughing watching others get DRENCHED and you all feel you known each other before..really fun ride.....

But if you want to get drenched, you can go to one of Disney's two water parks. I, for one, hate getting soaked on rides so I enjoy Splash Mountain whereas I cannot enjoy those wet rides at US.

As others have said, theme and story wise, Disney destroys Universal. In terms of getting wet and fun factor, Universal wins hands down.

Oh boy, here we go.

Jurassic Park and Dudley Dooright are very underwhelming to me, the story and ride feel rushed. Maybe because I'm use to the length of Splash Mountain, but still. Jurassic Park seems like it rushes through the story in no time, and the whole Dudley Dooright ride is just a cheese fest.

To me, Splash Mountain is the best water ride there is. Soak factor? I couldn't careless. I don't like walking around soaked for hours after I ride a ride. I'd rather ride it and be done.

Although, Popeye does kill Kali River Rapids. That ride is also very short, and underwhelming. You'd figure with how bland Animal Kingdom is accused of being, that they would have made Kali longer.

Do you get that wet on Ripsaw falls? I honestly can't remember, and it had been raining so hard the day I rode it I was soaking before even getting on it.

I DO remember getting absolutely dumped on Bilge Rat. It would have made no difference if I had just fallen off the loading dock.

To me, Universal (and Sea World) own Disney's water rides.

I think Ripsaw is the best water ride in Orlando, love that one! You do get drenched though, which you may or may not be in the mood for.

Splash is a good ride.
Kali - I dunno. The entire ride is about the lenght of the drop on Pirates, so it doesn't leave me enough time to decide whether I like it or not.
Although it is just as well Kali is so short, what with having 'all the splendour of south Asia' to draw inspiration from and settling on 'burned industrial wasteland'.

I like Jurassic Park for what it is. I just dislike Popeye because after riding that you are done for the day. You need to change and blow dry everything you wore on that ride because otherwise you are just plain uncomfortable the rest of the day.

My favorite water ride is Splash Mountain but I have to say that Universal/IOA really dominates in the water ride category. Their water rides (with the exception of Jurassic Park) really kind of lack in theme but they are really there just to get you wet. That is a huge plus in the summer months especially where a lot of people look forward to going on these rides to get wet.
Splash Mountain I think is the best themed of the water rides but as far as quality of the ride all the Universal rides have it beat in my opinion.

I think Splash Mountain does a great job of cooling people off without making them waddle and squelch away in discomfort afterwards.

Yeah they do it perfectly. You don't have that "wet rash" by the end of the day. Although Universal has their charm with those rides and you are able to stand in that life size dryer and dry up.

Nothing beats the steepness of the drop at Ripsaw Falls. Wowzers!

Also, Dudley is probably the best "white water rapids" ride I've ever been on even if you do get drenched, I mean, they don't hide the fact that you will so you know what you're getting into.
