Just wanted a little help and input regarding benefits of booking with Disney Travel compared to the new offer from SWA. The offer from SWA can be used for hotel and tickets only. Pay for a park hopper ticket and you get a second one free. It sounds good and is a little cheaper but I'm curious about what I would be missing from a Disney Travelbooking.:veryconfu

Hi! I just checked Southwest after reading your post. For us it was better going through Disney. We got a pincode that made the hotel about 40% off, which basically paid for our park hoppers. With the sales Southwest has right now (seriously, right now) it's about $1500 less for us to have the same package using Disney.

A lot depends on when you want to go and what deals they are offering, but I'd shop around first. And don't wait too long on the airfare, the cheap seats go quick.

Incidentally we're traveling in December from NY.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'm waiting for a pincode to get a better rate using Disney. I have already booked my airfare with Southwest using a "Wanna Get Away" rate that was really cheap. We will be traveling December 13-18. For a family of six, the Soutwest rate was about 20% cheaper for two rooms in a moderate hotel, park hopper tickets, and no dining plan. I have heard that some people are getting free dining plans in December if they book with Disney. We have the Chase Disney Visa and I have also heard that cardholders will sometimes get a good deal on package vacations. I am trying to be patient for the best deal but I really want to make our reservations so we can kick back and start looking forward to all the great Disney magic we'll experience. We've been twice before in December and the Christmas decorations and displays are fantastic!:xmas::xmas::xmas:

We're going the 5th thru 15th. We love it then!

Last year we got a free dining pin code through the Visa also, but it didn't beat our other off. Something to look into is the AAA discount. If you have a AAA card you can call and see if they have any discounts available at your resort. Then you can book and watch for any other discounts. Last year the difference between the AAA and AP discount for the one day outside our pin code was $3.

Also consider buying one AP, depending on the discounts offered it may pay...

Good luck!

Right now the only discounted offer that Disney has out is if you are one of the lucky people who have recieved a pin code either by mail or email that gives you free dining. Keep in mind that it may very well be offered to the general public in the future.

For Disney Visa cardholders when Disney puts out a discounted offer they usually will offer the discounted package to Disney Visa cardholders a few days before releasing it to the general public.

You can contact Disney reservations and ask them to check to see if you have a pin code attached to your name. I have done this for clients before.

As far as AAA, you can always book through them to get their discount which is either what Disney already has out or their discounted package which usually is a room discount on the package. Just keep in mind that they are not allowed to offer their discounted package on top of Disney's already discounted package.

Also with the dining plan and having a large family it would actually save you money to get it. If you were to purchase the same amount of food which is 1 snack, 1 counter service and 1 sit down meal option per person per night of stay separately without the plan, the plan will save you 30% on the cost of that food.

Good luck and have a wonderful trip!
