Just Officially Announced:

Currently all Vacation Club Properties, and Convention Resorts offer High Speed Internet Access Ports in all guest rooms. The cost for this service is $9.95 for 24-contiguous hours charged to the room account.

Over the course of the next year, all remaining Disney Resorts (Deluxe, Moderate, Value, and the Campgrounds) will be receiving these HSIA ports in all guest rooms. The Campgrounds will have the ports on all Preferred Full-Hook Up sites and in all cabins. Completion is expected by the end of April 2006.

Soon there will be no excuse for us WDWMagic Members not to post trip reports daily during our vacations! (of course you do need to provide your own laptop computer...)

:sohappy:

They really should have a package for your full stay. I would be more willing to do a $25 or $30 fee for my whole stay than even 2 days at $10/day. I spend the $10/day all the time on business trips, but on vacation, I'm less likely to do so. But, I wouldn't mind having internet available all the time for one fee.

I don't see this on the Disney TA site, the main site, or the media site. Where was it announced?

To DRC Cast as a means to assist guest making reservations late 2005 / early 2006.

Do you know if the cost will remain the same?

Pricing is always subject to change, but is currently $9.95 per 24 hours.

A length of stay rate is a great idea but currently does not exsist. Please feel free to send a letter or email to:

Remember Magic Your Way tickets, and the Disney Dining Plan are PROOF that Disney does listen to our Guest!

I was just at the CSR for eight nights, and I brought my laptop with the intention of DW doing homework, and me visiting the forums every night. I didn't even take it out of the case until the day before we left! We were too busy having fun!

I think it's great having it, though. I would probably use it more on more relaxed trips, even at $10/night. Wannabe@dis had it right, though. This is appropriate pricing for business travel, but not for vacationers.

Thats pricey  - I agree with wannab@dis - a package price during a vacation makes more economical sense for the user and for Disney, a better pricing plan may encourage more people to use it

$10 per day is comparable to the hotel where I work. We recently went to free high-speed included, but before that we were $9.95 per day. The way ours works is that costs us a fixed rate per month regardless of how much it is used, etc. So, I would think that they could easily absorb that into the rate considering how many people wouldn't even get to take advantage of it. Not all hotels are the same though and we certainly are no Disney.

Looks like I will still be using the dialup and my cellphone on my trip. I guess I will have to deal with the slower connection than here at home because 10 bucks a day for 12 nights is a little pricey.

This is great news, it will be much better than dialing up via the phone which is a pain because in most resorts you have to have phone cable long enough to go from the phone to the table or pull the chair up between the two beds and use the nightstand which is totally uncomfortable. At least Pop has an extra phone jack by the table and makes life easier. But why they didn't add dsl to the Pop Century resort when they were building it, I'll never understand.

These are all nice touches.

First we got fridges in all Moderates and Deluxes, and then gym useage became complimentary for Deluxe Guests.

I think it's a step in the right direction, albeit pricey to use.

Just another addition that should've been added a long time ago. When I travel for business, $9.95 seems to be the standard DSL charge for hotels and resorts that don't offer it for free.

$10 seems ok for business which may use a lot of bandwidth communicating with office VPN's etc but vacationers are only going to use it to A) check email B) send a picture or two and C) look up directions, park information, and entertainment options. To put it in perspective the average cost of a DSL line is somewhere in the neighborhood of $45-50.month. How does Disney get away with charging 1/5 of that PER NIGHT? Then again why would one expect HSIA to be cheap when everything else is rediculously priced

If someone stays 10 nights, but uses the high speed access twice, do they get charged for 2 nights or 2 nights of use?

You pay $9.95 for 24-contiguous hours. If you sign on at 2 pm on Monday, you can sign on and off HSIA until 2pm on Tuesday, and get charged $9.95 once. If you sign on again later during your stay, you get another 24-contiguous hours for a second charge of $9.95 so how much you pay is based on how much you used this service, (and if you remember to sign off in time  )
