On the one hand, this makes me realize how hard it is to “wow” people with dark rides these days, when you can buy an animatronic for a couple hundred bucks at Home Depot.

On the other, this makes me wonder what the heck is going on with the super sparse animatronics on pretty much anything built after the millennium. You can buy this ish for literally a couple hundred bucks at Home Depot these days!! For rides with 8 and 9 figure budgets, why are the level of animatronics we see in Pirates and Haunted Mansion ancient history? Stick dozens of these in each scene and heck, for that price, they could full on replace them with new ones when they need upkeep.

Because the price of these may be cheap, but the labor required to fix them is not. Never mind more industrials scale AAs which are vastly more complex. And expensive. And that's the issue.
